This is an Etsy shop selling large format prints of microstock photos. I've recognized a lot of them. I've contacted SS about this a long time ago as it was the only place that exact version of my image was available.. they said they would look into it and it nothing became of it - and that was months upon months ago, possibly >1year

https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/ModernWallDeco?show_panel=true&page=7

when I was doing my own personal investigating, I found the owner to live in Toronto using a mixture of his business name, and some whois requests.  Im sure any savvy internet use can do the same as I did.

I even used my Etsy account to compliment his photos and ask where he got them he never replied to me.

i recognize a lot of stock on here.  +1,300 individual sales as you can see by the Etsy stats.   look for yours.

Absolutely disgusting! Photographers already have it bad these days, especially with all the stealing happening on social media sites nowadays. Hopefully your situation will improve.

well I've seen his sales, and mine haven't earned him a whole lot of money,
but I was concerned for some of the other photographers, with images that I recognize as popular stock images,

to put in perspective; he's made about 1000 sales maybe more (just on easy alone),
I found my sales to be less than 5 of the total, so just a flash in the pan..  but there are some images that must have sold hundreds of times for him. Hopefully someone who has produced an image like that is able to launch their own offensive a little better than I can.

in any case, thanks Substancep,

Not just Microstock it's digusting all over. Worse for us trying to make a living with our work. Etsy should respect artists but like some others FAA they just ban us and avoid facing the violators.

Anybody here selling photos as digital downloads on Etsy? Is it worth time and effort ? I'm thinking about this when all stocks died slowly and my earnings going down i looking for another places to sell. And what about eu-vat tax regulations after changes ? Etsy take this on shoulders ?

At Etsy you pay $0.2 for an uploaded item. To upload 1000 photos you'll pay $200. And 3 months later you have to renew them (to pay $200 again). Try to make it profitable. I am sure there must be some tricks to make it cheaper, but you need to find them. Also, as you may know, Etsy won't try to find buyers for you, you must promote you shop via social networks etc., it is a job.

0,2$ for item and 0.35% for selling item i think - 200$ for 1000 photos - for 3 month hmm this is not good

Can they not do this with an extended license? Or they can and you know they haven't done so.

Hi,

yeas. You can sell only prints on Society6. After upload your image, edit title, tags and price and press submit button, the prints will set automatically for sell. If you want to sell other products (mugs, shirts etc...) you must add the same image on each product manually.

I believe it's fine to advertise the image for sale, then buy extended licenses as needed and print and deliver the product. This could be totally legit. Right?

That's what I was thinking. Regular license to display the image for sale on the site, extended license whenever anyone actually buys the image in question and you make the print.

I believe you are right, if the person pays for the correct license, after they make a sale. Until then its just an example and for sale.

Ask ChrisGardinerPhotography if he got paid the right amount for his matching sales by this etsy seller. Or anybody else.

It's not legal to print and sell Disney Starwars art and prints without a license. Just like FAA they allow infringing copies and rights prints agaunst the law.
