Somebody posted this on the Shutterstock forums, but I guess it's worth reposting here

Another "sharing" site with wallpapers. Lots and lots of copyrighted images, many available in high res.
I found one of my images downloaded over 7000 times.

Based in Russia, but the servers are located in Germany.  Wonder if someone in Germany can report them to their ISP?

Full size, 7400 downloads, amazing!

I don't know how many of these people would have purchased the image, as it's a free wallpaper site. Not defending them, just the numbers are interesting. If wach of those was a sale for say, 25c the artist could have had = $1850 !

Then there are copies at:

wallplanet.ru
artleo.com
tomportal.ru
ellf.ru
nnm.ru
megalife.com.ua
motto.net.ua
oboibox.ru

The image is pretty much, out in the wild and free. So much for a good concept and hard work.

I wouldn't really mind if those were used ONLY as wallpapers. The problem is that many of those images are available in high resolution and some small percentage of those downloads ends up with a commercial use. There are some 'pirate' sites with images/vectors, but most users know they are violating the copyright law. Here, with all the 'wallpaper' stuff my guess is that most people think it's a legitimate business.
