I found this interesting, especially since we've been discussing it here on and off.

The initiative has been launched by the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC), the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4As), and the Association of National Advertisers (ANA), with the support of trade organisations representing visual arts and photo agencies.

It aims to establish the practice of applying descriptions and the copyright status of the content as metadata, and to embed it permanently during the electronic exchange of digital photo, text, audio or video files.

But I loved this name for a site... Embedded Metadata Manifesto http://www.embeddedmetadata.org/

I'm all for it and watching what happens should be very interesting!

Darn, they are using the IPTC extraction tool that I've been trying to find for over a year. Now I know it's out there. They ask for one sample image and then pull all the data and out it on a web page. Using the same, anyone could make their website so much more functional and searchable, without complicated, hand coding!
