Recently I discovered this person was using an image of mine and allowing others to download. I found this one on his/her site also. Just thought I'd post in case anyone recognizes it. The DeviantArt contributor has drawn on it, turning it into a derivative work, but is allowing others to download it, as well as assigning his/her own copyright to the bottom of the picture. They even have Request a Print as an option on the left side. I clicked Request a Print and it then said Print Requested. Not sure where that print goes or how that whole thing works.

edit: when I went back to the page, it now says Print Not Enabled, but the Download function is still there

I found an image of mine last week on Flickr that also had the option to download.  There were many other IS images on this guy's page.  I contacted IS support and they issued a cease and desist notice.  All the images are now gone.  It it wasn't for Tineye, I never would have known.   Flickr is becoming a problem.

... Flickr is becoming a problem.

Flickr always has been a problem when it comes to copyright. Same thing with Deviantart.

People still believe they can download anything that's online modify it and claim it's theirs. Ridiculous.

 Hi All,

Yep, he has one of mine under my name with my water mark still on it. I didn't authorize his promotion of my material but he is saying it is my photo. What do you do under these situations. Is it illegal for someone to promote my work? Not that I really want to stop free promotion but I was wondering if there is something I might be missing.

Best,
Jonathan ( andersen ross )

P.S. Change that, the person that posted the shot is the model I used in the shot. I said he could use it for self promotion.

Jonathon, I think the way he is using it is ok. He does not have the Print function enabled, nor the Download feature. He has used a small photo, so I think he is ok. And I think it's great that he added your name to the photo and is promoting it for you!

Hm...the same thing happened to me. My image was bought from DT, so I contacted them immediately. Dreamstime contacted DeviantArt and my image was removed from artists portfolio the same day. So, I suggest you contacting DA or the website that sold your image to the artist.
