Title: someone selling my vector on shutterstock
Post by: zsooofija on November 25, 2018, 15:16
I got an e-mail from a nice stranger, warning me someone is selling my illustration on shutterstock.

I reported it to shutterstock, almost one week ago, but the image is still online for sale.
Anyone knows how long does it take to be taken down? (I guess it is pretty obvious, no need for investigation).

Also, you might want to check his/her port...

Wow that really sucks that some people actually do that and get away with it. Hope SS gets back to you quickly.

And he/she has the guts to put this in the profile.

"Welcome to my portfolio. I am very passionate illustrator and photographer. My portfolio is very randomized so I hope you find and buy. Thank you."

Yes, I saw that, very annoying :(
In the meantime I found the same port on adobe stock also.

Truly sad that these sleazy people exist. No integrity at all.

Can you post his Adobe Stock portfolio?

It took them between 1-2 weeks the last time I reported an infringer. That was about a month ago. Because of the Thanksgiving weekend, you may be looking at 2 weeks.

And you gotta love how lazy they are. Copy the exact same keywords and then have the image show up in the similars section. Makes it easy for them to get caught.

Why would SS hurry??  when theyre earning money on all stolen goods!

That’s exactly why I don’t think they care about it, unless a contributor makes a big stink, or it’s one of their best-selling contributors. Money is money, they don’t care how they make it.

Thank you, I hope they delete it until the end of the week.
Here it is the port on AS: https://stock.adobe.com/ro/contributor/207492251/50mm-studio

That's what I am afraid of and unfortunately as you can see I am not a top contributor :(

I am sorry to hear that, but at least my post was not in vain.
I have also found more stolen vectors in this port (with google reverse image search), but could not find the contacts of original artists.
Please report those from adobe stock also (even if you are not a contributor there).

It might be worthwhile to PM Mat Hayward here on msg.
I don't know how Adobe handles this, but some sites are reluctant to take action unless an actual infringed author makes the complaint rather than someone pointing out this sort of anomaly.

AFAIK on all sites you have to be the infringed author to complain (otherwise they do nothing). In this case I reported mine, Dog-maDe-sign will report his (hopefully) and when I have a bit more time, I will try to find contacts to others again.

It's the first time which a my image is stolen I need to learn what I have to do. At the moment I haven't time to this. May be thursday.  :(

Moreover I'm really very slow with English. :-[

Fair enough; but from what I've read here, Mat seems to be a decent bloke, and can get things done quickly.

Ok, thanks, just sent a PM to him, to check out this topic. Maybe he can also help Dog-maDe-sign.

The portfolio is no longer on shutterstock, but still online on adobestock (2 weeks after reporting). In the meantime I found several other artists' stolen work in this port (some of them I managed to contact so they also reported it). I wonder how much longer will it take...

This is the one thing SS is way ahead of compared to FL/AS on.

IMHO The grossest infringement I've ever seen has been on FL for literally years. The seller has made loads of derivatives from an ex-IS-exclusive illustrator and has been in the top selling Christmas illustrations on there for years with them, and every year he comes out with more variations. The work is clearly stolen, you can see things like the same number of hairs, beautiful elements awkwardly positioned by someone with less skill than the creator etc.)

All their other work is photography, except for this one set of brilliant vectors (or at least was for years). Clearly not someone capable of creating that kind of illustration (they've improved a bit now, managing to make a load of mainly new derivatives from that same original stolen pieces). It’s infuriating to think that they’ve made literally thousands off of this other guy’s work. I told him years ago and he couldn’t get it sorted.

Anyway, long story short, I’m sorry, but not surprised.

Any Luck on this yet? maybe change the title to be about Fotolia/ Adobe now so Matt sees it?

The image I have reported was deleted today (and also some images that others I have managed to contact reported) but the portfolio is still online.
It's pretty disappointing to see people can get away so easily with this kind of "practice" :( .
I PM-ed Matt but he just told me to file the DMCA.

Doesn't make sense when they know the account is selling stolen vectors, then they only remove when someone files DMCA. You would think Adobe would care more than that. Fail to close account says they just want the money and don't care about us. Who do I wrote? I know Matt will stand up for us, I need someone higher up who should get 1000 angry emails.

I can PM you the links to the stolen vector portfolio I was referring to if you like. I also was hoping when Adobe took over this aspect would change, as they rely on creatives for their business, turns out not so much.

(I don't want to post openly in case the thief takes down the offending work and gets away without being shut down, dont; want to give them a chance to destroy the evidence as they have so much money off these illustrations).
