This is the most important thing to do whenever you find stolen work online.
Here's the DMCA notice page for AdSense websites, please everyone who finds their work stolen fill this in for the offending sites:
https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=146178

So important I am posting it here too!

Thanks for posting!

Yes, thanks Microbius.  That's great!  :)

@ Tyler - is it possible to have 'sticky' or a section for infringement fighting tools in the forum?  It would be great to get quick and easy access to useful links like that Google form when needed.

edit: another newbie who just joined today to try and convince us that it's ok to steal other people's images, because they are posted on the internet. As if it's not stealing if someone has done it before you.  ::)

Hi there, lol, im not related to that site anyhow. I just wrote my opinion about things you are talking about, and yes, i registered to write it, because i just think that the page you are talking, is good if they answered you and removed all the data you requested, and yes, i like this forum. Yes, i think that is bad to steal others works, im interested in photography too, but i wouldn't be so angry about using my works like this, because i think its great that someone want to use it and someone likes it.. If not, so what the point of life is that photography we are making?. Ok, lets sell it once, and than, why all the people want to fuck all the other ones for that fuc..ng money, i dont understand. Maybe im not right, because it is not my primary work, so once again, its my opinion, and i have a right to write it here :).

sorry if i written something that hooked you!.and once again sorry for my english.

Okay, maybe you genuinely don't understand. The reason we have to "sell" our work many times is that it costs a lot of time and money to produce it and under the Microstock model we only get from a few dollars down to a few cents per license sold.
If we were to try and sell the images only once each the agencies that represent us would have to charge many hundreds of dollars, of which we would only get a smaller percentage, to cover the costs in terms of time and equipment to produce.
I am glad that you aren't connected to the site, as I would hope anyone involved in it would at least have a small bit of knowledge about these things before they went out and started stealing IP.

ETA lol

Maybe you are right in some case, but in other words, why cant we give to use our images to people who will never buy it and never use it in any commercial adverticements or magazines, and just will put it in their desktop? What is the problem with it? I just wanted to say: Please, dont tell me that you all always buying all the things you have on your pc?? Dont tell me that you never used such images from such websites on your desktop? So ok, as i understood, CClapper written them and they removed an image, perfect! looking more for my images in another places.

We must look and destroy the source of that stealing, and not the websites where you can upload the image too.. As i see, you can register on that buzz site and upload your wallpapers, so how we can control, and they writed some terms and conditions before any uploads, and why we must report the site who is so gentle with authors, and maybe cannot control all their users.?.

edit: So why not to destroy all the good things from around the internet like facebook and twitter, where users are posting images, videos and articles? lets start from that gigants and report them for their users posts..

Please, don't tell me that you can't even grasp the concept that there are people in this world who do not steal. As it seems that this is the case, here it is spelled out for you. I always pay for all the things I have on my PC. I have never stolen another's work to decorate my desktop. I have also never broken into someone's house and stolen their TV, which frankly would be a lesser crime than stealing someone's work and posting it for download on the internet, as at least it doesn't jeopardize their future income and ability to feed themselves and their family. Though I can understand why the latter is more common as it takes less guts and there's less chance of getting caught.
I know it is very hard to explain this to those who have such a massive sense of entitlement that they think they can judge when it is okay for them to take other people's property without asking.

If you would like to do that with your images, go right ahead. My images are for sale. As you can see, now my image is everywhere, and I am not making a penny off it! Are you so naive that you don't think my image isn't being used commercially, in addition to being used as wallpaper? My business model is...NO FREEBIES! Pay for the correct license if you want it on your desktop. Don't EVER re-distribute...it's stealing other people's work!

No, I never steal other peoples work! I use the wallpaper that comes with the Mac OS or I shoot and use my own images. Or I buy an image. I don't steal software either, though many think that it is perfectly ok to do that, after all, because they can't afford it.

No, I am NOT limiting my searching and destroying to just the sources of stealing...I am also looking to shut down the people who then re-download, then allow others to re-download! It is ALL stealing! One is no better than the other! Here's a general rule of thumb...if you find a great high resolution, large photo on the internet? You can almost guarantee that it has been stolen from someone. Anyone who wants to post on the internet knows that you only need small, low resolution images to accomplish that. The only reason large, high resolution images are being posted and are allowed to be downloaded are because people are stealing them!

People on this forum DO look around FB for stolen images. There is a fairly recent thread where a contributor here found her image stolen and being used on FB.

I'm glad you are not from wallpapersbuzz dot com. I am glad they took my image down when I asked them. Other contributors here have found their images also being used illegally there. This morning, I looked around that website again, and it looks like a LOT of images have been taken down. Rightfully so...they were ALL likely stolen! How much money do you think we have all lost, just because some jerk downloaded a high rez version and reposted it as a giveaway? I don't know if you think that's perfectly OK, but I sure don't!

Fixing that one small problem isn't the end, though. Just like the drug trade, it's a HUGE problem now.

@ Linator

Your posts are confusing to me.  I'm not sure you realise what this forum is.  It's a forum for people who sell their photographs to earn money - whether as a 'paying hobby' to afford extra equipment, or as a full-time income to put food on the table, clothe themselves, etc.

There are many sites out there where photographers upload their images for free, purely for the pleasure of letting others access those images for free.  However, the participants in this forum are selling their images, and that is the sole purpose of creating them.  The purpose of the agencies we submit our work to is to SELL them.

If you want free images, use a free site.  There's no reason at all for people to steal images when there's a whole world of legitimately free imagery on the Internet.

And look for some more high resolution, stolen images to download and use for "wallpaper", no doubt.  ::)

I guess you have never had anything stolen from you, otherwise you would understand totally why people are angry.

I raise my hand, I don't have any avis (whatever they are) mpegs or mp3s on my drives, in fact, I don't have any illegal software whatsoever.

Just because some people's morals are below average, doesn't mean the whole world's are.

a better idea may be adding it to the wiki.  It isn't used very much but the point of it was to slowly gather information that we didn't want to get lost.

nofollow links are also now in effect.

Linator,

If you want to make your work available for free, it's your right to do it. What nobody has the right however is to make other people's IP available against their will.
