Hey guys, It's been awhile. I woke up to find a link in my inbox to a interesting post someone had wrote about me being a shithead and a loser because I sell my photos at microstock sites. Thought I would pass it along http://bit.ly/f3oMFLNot sure why out of all the millions of people out there selling stock he singled me out. Guess I should be flattered, right?

Hey all,
I was struck by lighting the other day and had this crazy idea of using a projector as a backdrop so I could use my own images for quick and easy photography backdrops.
Obviously the light from a normal projector wouldnt be powerful enough, but couldnt you use your camera flash as the light source?
The idea seemed simple enough, but I havent had any luck. I have been playing around with just sticking slides in front of my flash but no luck. Im thinking i probably need some magnifying glass somewhere to make this work, but I cant even get the image from the slide projected on my wall.
Any ideas, thought?
I know this is a crazy idea, but it seems like it would be awesome if I could get it to work.

Is there any advantage of starting one of these? I have noticed a lot of photographers using them on IS and DT.
I guess it might be just another way of getting some views on your photos, but do they really generate sales?

I know there were some older threads about Lensbaby's, but im curious if people are using these successfully for stock and how hard it is to get shots with these accepted.
I originally wrote off Lensbaby's when I first heard about them awhile back thinking "I could do that in Photoshop." Looking at The Composer now on some sample shots (not to mention seeing these showing up in movies) im starting to like the idea of playing around with one of these.
I am suprised how many people think these are a waste of money, I think we might all be getting a little brainwashed from submitting stock for too long. The cheapest one is around $80 new on Amazon.com, I only know of one other lens that cheap.
Im sure there are a hundred different ways of achieving the "Lensbaby look" without buying one, I would just like to hear from some peeps that have some experience with them and using them for stock.
Thanks!

I have always liked taking photos of cars and isolating them, those photos have always sold pretty well for me to but recently im having a hard time getting them accepted. Fotolia wont take them, and istockphoto sent me to this link http://www.istockphoto.com/article_view.php?ID=413&Page=2 when I asked them about it. This seems pretty crazy to me. Some cars are pretty obvious what they are even if all the logos are removed, but what about the more generic Hondas, Mazdas, etc? This is one am having a hard time with that luckily was accepted by Shutterstock. What drives me crazy too is that there are so many car photos out there already what good is it doing by not taking any new ones? Wouldn't all the old ones be just as much of a copyright risk?

I only know of two sites that let you keep track of how many people are clicking on your referral links, but not actually signing up bigstockphoto and crestock.
After looking at these statistics I think I would rather not know.
BigStock: Number of clicks on your referral link - 1108 Number of sign-ups from your referral link - 4 Referral Commissions Earned: $0.00
Crestock: Affiliate clicks - 167 Sign-ups - 2 Earnings - $0.13
I wonder why so many people click on these links, but never follow through?

I just got a reject at istockphoto for a shot of two models because the dates on the model releases didnt match up? I had a few different shots from this series accepted already and had no problem with them anywhere else so I emailed IS support and figured the reviewer just made mistake.
I just heard back from IS and apparently they want a new model release for a model each time you photograph the model. I looked around on IS and could find nothing saying I needed to do this.
Can you imagine if sites that store your model releases (almost all of them do) required this. I have a few models I use all the time, if I had to upload a new release to Dreamstime every time I did a new photoshoot it would be ridicules.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anybody out there get new model releases for the same model?
Thanks

Just found out about this fun new program called Photosynth. It lets you combine lots of similar photos of an object or space and puts them together in a 3d environment like a video game and lets you explore. http://photosynth.net/default.aspxIt would be cool if you could render out a movie from this.
