This looks like a stock image to me as well: http://free-extras.com/images/code/people-112.htmI won't tell names but I know of other sites as well that offer high quality stock images to download for free without watermarks. Mostly the images come from Shutterstock, probably because it's so cheap and nobody notices if an employed designer uses some of the otherwise unused download credits and stacks them.

Hi Lee,
a great tool you got there.
I would love to see not only an "import" function, but also an "export (to CSV or similar) function, because I fear that if I add month of data and sometime in the future you decide to close the project (let's not hope it, but to be realistic, stuff like that happens to web 2.0 ideas all the time), all the data will be lost.
What do you think?
Thanks in advance, Robert

You've got my answers. Would have been nice if you could enter (optionally) an email to get a message when the results are online. :-)

Is the microstock monitor tool still supported and will there be any further development? The site seems dead to me.

In theory, XML metadata should work vor video (and audio etc.) as well, that's why it was designed and pushed by Adobe. But most agencies don't have a way of reading out the information, so there is no practical standard yet. Unfortunately!

I don't want to brag, but Fotolia takes most of my images, maybe 95-98%. But I only do people shoots though...

Maybe Shutterstock is trying to push the On-Demand-Downloaders to BigStockPhoto that they recently purchased?
That's what I was thinking...
But there is no link from Shutterstock to Bigstock. So, customers interested in buying only one or a few images will simply go somewhere else!
No problem, I offer my images elsewhere too...

Hm, I had one On-Demand-Download today (for $1.07).

@Amos: Don't worry too much about critical voices, they will always be there.
@Holgs:
I have to agree that I value Fotolia higher than Istock (from a seller perspective), mainly because of the upload limits at istock and planly because I earn much more at Fotolia.

A comparison like this only makes sense if you tell us how many images you have online. I reached 1000 DLs in about 8 month and had about 500 image online then.

It depends how much visitors your sites has. But ask for at 100USD/month and then start negotiating.

Thanks for the numbers. I will try to come up with an algorithm that makes use of the values.

@gostwhyck.
Yes, month are considered "equal" and I know it's not true.
My problem is how to factor the different month. I started microstock about two years ago, so I have not enough data on my own. I have much more data for macrostock sales, but the month cannot be compared there since my macrostock sales mainly get reported after they get paid and there is a delay of some days to several month between download and payment date, so this data doesn't help me too much for microstock...
I know that Yuri published a diagram how the different week days influence sales, but I haven't seen a similar one for month. Anybody an idea?
Thanks, Robert

Thanks.
Anyone have any idea what numbers what makes sense too for a calculation?
Thanks, Robert

Thanks for the comment. Yes, you could do the same calculations in Excel (I actually do), but it's a "quick and dirty" way to get the desired numbers.
I agree that it would make sense accounting to seasonal trends, but I doubt that there has to be a direct correlation between ad usage and stock sales since advertisers are only about half of the users.

I've noticd for a while that especially istockphoto and Dreamstime have more "punch" in their images. I think they have an algorithm while generating the preview image that lifts the saturation a bit.

Does anyone one if the Canon EOS 5D Mark II shoots interlaced or progressive?
I looked in the manual but couldn't find the information.
Thanks, Robert

Hello, I published in my blog a free Online Stock Photography Income Calculator: http://www.alltageinesfotoproduzenten.de/stock-photography-income-calculatorAfter entering some information like downloads and earnings so far this year and the size of the photographer's portfolio, the calculator shows the projected income until the end of this year and the next year. It also accounts for the portfolio growth over time and allows adjusting different currencies so the income from different stock agencies can be better compared. Additionally other statistic data like "return per image/year" (RPI), "return per download/year" (RPD), "downloads per image/year" and more will be calculated. More information and help provided on my blog. If you have any ideas for improvement or suggestions, please let me know. Bye, Robert

Where do you see these tax percentages or numbers at Shutterstock?
Thanks, Robert
