The photographer (Damir Spanic) has 193 images in their portfolio and IS EXCLUSIVE (imagine that).

You can view the image on the frontpage (http://www.istockphoto.com/) or in its full glory @ http://www.istockphoto.com/user_view.php?id=709054

Glad to see their image counter was totally ****ed and still reads 991,071 to give us false hope

* and i was out taking photos of brick walls.

An interesting portfolio thank God it was one of the beefcake photos I don't want some guy's six pack adorning the front page of iStock for the next week.

Strange the way microstock works do a search for San francisco within their portfolio they have 9 images one with 143 Dls and the others with virtually none

Now maybe they'll work on reducing that darn image queue.

I just wish it hadn't been an exclusive photographer.  Although they probably had more exclusives in the queue than non-exclusives (exclusives have higher upload limits), it makes the choice of image a bit fishy, at least on the surface.

Well, I guess Shutterstock is next.  I hope they don't pull a Fotolia.  I hope they offer something like a photo shoot in an exotic locale as a prize for their millionth image.  That would be great--something like a trip to Iceland or Mexico for a week would be nice.  Or, better yet, a workshop with a fabulous photo instructor.  It would also be fun if they offered a prize for images 999,999 and  1,000,001.  Are you listening, Shutterstock?

Well... this has proven my point. Either the counter is totally *removed coarse language* up, BUT.... that's actually not true, because I checked "browse the newest" images which lists all the images in the database and it stood at 99,289 images when the one millionth image was made public. So... all crap, set up. As we all guessed it was an exclusive, I guess the people betting on a newer photographer were right, etc.

perhaps their announcement should have been read

'this is GOING to be the 1,000,000 image'

How about we have looked at the queue and decided this WILL BE the millionth image

Not that any of us are bitter

Really i love Istock I think 20% commission and 47% acceptance 30 uploads a week is great.

Mmm maybe they are sending outmind control waves over their forum (never posted never will)

Oh I see they have reduced the upload limit to 20 images per 168 hour period for "newbies" obviously trying to clear the backlog
