Anybody ever have one that low? It shows on my stat page as a blue file purchase, not partner program. The XS is $2.00 and my huge cut of that is 15%. It has 75 downloads, so I don't think it would be in any kind of "bargain bin". Anybody know what this could be? Thanks for any insight!

http://www.istockphoto.com/buy-stock-prepaid-credits.php (http://www.istockphoto.com/buy-stock-prepaid-credits.php) shows credits 'as low as $1.47', but there are frequent discounts announced for various reasons, and there are apparently old credits from 2002 still floating around
In addition, there are subscription sales:
http://www.istockphoto.com/royalty-free-subscriptions.php (http://www.istockphoto.com/royalty-free-subscriptions.php)
and corporate accounts and subscriptions, the latter of which can be 24c per credit:
http://www.istockphoto.com/corporate-accounts.php (http://www.istockphoto.com/corporate-accounts.php)
So you could get a corporate subscription for an XS of which you would get 15% of 24c, which would 3.6c to you. :( But at least it's only an XS. At some other sites, eg.TS you'd be giving away your maximum size for peanuts. For an XXXL, on iS you'd get a minimum of 65c - double what you'd get on some other places for that size.

Thanks, that explains it. Sue, your reply leads me to another question I have been pondering of late.
Does size matter? I'm considering an upgrade on my camera to a D800 (36MP). Do those huge files actually sell better. What about acceptance rate?
I would think it wouldn't matter at IS as the bigger sizes are far more expensive. But at SS, where all sizes cost the same?

have had 0 sales at iS so far this month. WME

That was my first sale since Feb 3, Vann. At this rate, I'm really looking forward to my projected payout in June 2018. Only $40 to go, WooHoo!

That sounds bad, so I looked at your overall sales at IS. Four and a half years at IS, total sales of 100+ images, an average of about 2 sales a month. As we're only on the 8th day of the month it seems a bit early to be claiming WME.

actually I joined iS two years ago as a rookie (not 4 and half years, where is that info?), uploaded about 12 files, did nothing with it seriously until last year. (also sales are one shy of 200 so your stats are also 100% out, in both terms of my duration and DLs, but I get your overall point)
so for me I only think i've been at iS "properly" for just over one year. While I am still in the newbie building portfolio stage I'd expect to see growth, not 8 days with 0 zero sales. (got one yesterday) I wouldn't expect to have a WME just yet.
I stopped uploading to iS for Dday, and deactivated files (back down to about 150?), and now am in limbo wondering what to do.

That info is on your IS profile page. 'Member since: November 2008'

Sometimes that can be misleading, as I joined in 2005 as a buyer. I uploaded a few files in late 2007 to see what it was like. It wasn't until 2008 that I gave it any effort. And presently I am on a break from uploading since mid 2011. IS=frustration.

hmm, perhaps as suggested, I did join as a buyer, or I joined after I returned from a trip thinking I could sell travel pics (hilarious!), but my uploads aren't that old, so yeah, a touch misleading. 4 years ago... my 3rd child was in kindy, seems life a lifetime ago. I do know I joined 123 first and I have a few travel pics up there (that were accepted), but I didn't seriously look at stock as a viable income stream (using that term loosely, and in a part-time sense) until last year. Best intentions and all that, still nowhere near where I'd hoped to be by end of '12.

to get back to the original thoughts...I've had several 10 cent downloads on IS and I chalk it up to "counts as another download" and not any real money. I do much better on the partner program where I have many more downloads and made more money. the lowest price download on the partner program has been $0.28; I don't believe they go as low as .10.

I think that's right. I think there is a flat rate on TS for ordinary subs, then you might get lucky with a larger value sale.

I also shoot with a D800 and although the file size is big and available for more money, most of my sales have been in lower, less expensive sizes.

is it too much effort to only upload a certain larger size to sites that reward such things?
-
My lowest iStock commission is $0.07
-
I upload the largest photo I have an iStock then cuts the size down smaller for the different price points so the size of the file doesn't matter.
-
it could matter though, if you only gave your largest files to sites that rewarded larger files, and kept dimensions of all others smaller. Forgive me for talking in inches, that's how I think, but if you only gave iS 6x9" files and they paid the top value on that, then why give them 8x12" (which is just under my native size). (Not sure they'd accept 6x9s as I haven't tested it.)

In theory, that sounds like a good idea. In practice, I think it would be far too much work to resize each file for each site.
iStock's largest (XXXLarge), by the way, is the next size above 16.4" x 10.9" (XXLarge). It's somewhere around 18.7" x 12.5" @ 300 dpi (20.7 MP).

Yes. Way.
