I had a strange spike of sales on Feb 8 at iStock - 100+ extra downloads.
And now, IS is sending me about 10 refund notices every day for $1.80 each from this particular day.
Anybody has similar experience recently? Or maybe it just a norm nowadays when dealing with IS.

BTW. I had a similar experience on a somewhat smaller scale on two low earning sites low.
I got an e-mail with explanation from one site. The other site simply erased those sales after 2 weeks without any notice.
I guess I am getting popular ...  >:(

Hi PixelsAway,
Yesterday I had a strange spike of sales at iStock too - 30+ extra downloads.
All these downloads are the same price - $1.6.
I think I will get refund notices soon. :'(

I think the fraud is pretty much on-going and unchecked. There's another post here http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-403-265-3062/5 that's pretty recent.

Such an increase doesn't necessarily mean deliberate fraud, it could just be a user on a corporate account over stepping their bounds or a myriad of other things.

How ever it does sound dodgy.

Did you see one of your images was a featured photo on IS last week? (don't ask me where or what, I just saw the two kayaks on a lake and knew it was you)  ;D Might have been on Facebook.

Oh I think it might have been the free iStock e-card photos two days ago.

The moral of the story!  Never count your chickens before they are hatched. ;D

The trouble is even AFTER they're hatched the count can be wrong, as some of those chicks run off and hide under the sofa, while some run around to the back of the queue and get counted twice  ;)

Remember after the big Christmas/New Year fraud problem, there was a conference call with NDAs brandished and signed... I'm pretty sure at the time we were told that in the near future we'd all get to know what had gone wrong, and why there was a need for NDAs.

Did anyone see any follow-up information about that?  The only change I saw was that 'refund notices' were changed so that we can't now tell if a customer refund has been given (ie a genuine refund to a genuine customer), or a result of criminal activity which has meant our work has been stolen again.
