I had another thread with some other images for first submission, but I think that thread is pretty much dead so I start a new one, hope it's ok :)

Well, how about these 3 for first submission?

Thanks a lot!!! Really! :)

They are all good, but dont you need also three different subject types?

You could take the athletic man and then maybe one shot on location (family at home, kids playing), one outdoor?

Mostly they seem to be looking for "authentic" daily life but with professional lighting etc...

But I dont know what it is like these days, maybe 3 studio shots are enough.

Hi luissantos!

Yes and I am greatful for your suggestions, but I just felt that at least one of those Images had to many problems when viewed at 100%. Might go with the other one though!

Thanks! :)

I see! :) from these 3 I would drop the black one because of the very dramatic lighting, his hands, chest and arms are very dark, not saying I don't like it, its a nice picture but I am thinking of iStock ;D

The logo/design on the shoes (image 1) can definitely be cause for rejection. Most stock companies are pretty strict about logo-type issues .. and with good reason.

Good luck  :)

Yes I had the feeling it might be a bit on the extreme side for stock, and especially for first three... Thanks!

The one of the woman doing the stomach crunches should pass. But the light on her knees is a bit hot. Also, make sure you don't have any blown out highlights on the soles of her shoes.

The other two I am not sure. The man doing the push up may be difficult since the lighting is more artistic mood lighting than commercial lighting.

The one of the pregnant woman is getting some light bounce off the background which is causing some haze on her leg and part of her stomach. Not sure if the inspector will have a problem with this, but if I noticed it then an inspector might as well.

Good luck...

seriously! could you have a little respect for what's going on right now? I've got a small port, I'm nobody, and I am outraged. you are being all smiley and cheerful whilst others are deleting their ports and along with it, their livelihoods. we won't make a difference if we don't band together. people like you are the prime reason for why unions (something I detest) are compulsory. I'm sorry, but I can't understand how you can be so insensitive to post this - IN TWO THREADS - at a time like this.

I have almost been on MSG for 2 years and every single day there is a negative string on iStock yet I still wanted to see if I could pass the most difficult test in the business! I failed 7 times but passed a few weeks ago. Will I submit images? Not sure? Do I hope that iStock wakes up and tries to take care of the damage that they have done- yes! There were the bread & butter for many artists and truly hope that they are the first ones that iStock takes care of if they wake up. Losing the 2nd best company is a major blow to anyone in this business (full time or part time)...

I disagree with your reasoning. Its a business and if someone wants to join IS, they can do that, its a free world. She as a newbie to IS has not gone through the years of hardship at IS. She is just being friendly.  What I dont understand is why would someone join a site, with the lowest royalty in the business and giving her images away for free.

you disagree with the notion that we should all stand together?

then we are doomed.

I'm also a newbie but I can see the bigger picture, rather than just myself.

(and if you've looked, her profile does have an istock port, which i don't understand)

No I do not disagree with that, but define the word ALL? Like I said, she is new to stock photography, she was just being friendly, she might not know about all the bad stuff IS is practicing, and there is no need to come down on her as you did in my honest opinion. I have already deleted my portfolio but I wont get angry if someone is asking for critique here. Why didnt you give out to the colleagues who were helping her here?

Lets not attack and single out people here in the forum.

Oh yes, I also have a profile there because I registered. But till today I am not approved. So, profile yes, images no.

PS The avatar got me totally as well. Should rethink your avatar OLJensa, or you are going to end up with an identity crisis.  ;)

yes, I saw that she was a he on his iStock portfolio page, but it made no sense to have a female avatar and be asking for first submission advice.

1. I believe that everyone's right to make their own decision on this is even more important than that we should all stick together.
2. By your argument, we are all doomed, as the stats show that there are more files being ingested every day than are being deactivated, and it'll take a lot of deactivations on Feb 2nd to make up for those which are uploaded in the intervening period.

(I don't see any iStock port in the OP's profile.)
