iStockphoto has now added a new column to the My Uploads screen that lists if a file has been DAed (disambiguated).  The column is titled "Disambiguation".

This should help those submitters that have lots of files and have lost track of whether a file has been DAed or not.

Yes, it's neat!

Now if only:
- we could copy and paste disambiguations for a series of files
- we could suggest new meanings for the keywords

Adelaide

Yeah, it's certainly a help. And, I don't know about anyone else, but I need all the help I can get with disambiguating. It's a major pain in the backside.

Whilst on the topic, does anyone know of a way of skipping from one file, when you've done it, to the next in line?

At the moment, when I've finished disambiguating one file I get the blank 'Continue' page. Then I have to go back to my personal stats page, click on 'uploads', go to the page I was working on and scroll down to find the next file that needs doing. It adds about 50% more work to the whole process.

I've only got 500 and something files with them at the moment. The big players, with thousands of files, must be tearing their hair out.

Not skiping to the next one, but I've been using right-button and opening in new window, then just closing the continue window...

Not that I've done many, about 10 at last count. :-)

I've been using Firefox and just open each image in a new tab. Just edit the image and close the tab. It's a little easier. Although it's still a pain in the rear, it's just a tad less painful.

I do as Chellyar does.

The new column will help as i started by DA highest sellers (dont sell any more), then by accident, by most recent sale (didn't realise I had changed view) and more recently by date (the most sensible).  This will mean I can do similar ones at once and not lose track of what I have done.

I don't quite get it, what does the word means? because some of my files under disambigu.. says manual, some says auto, should I go in and change all to manual, I am lost ???

My guess is Auto means they did it and probably stuffed up.  Manual means you have manually DA'ed.

I think that's right. Auto means their computer's done it, with all the weird and wonderful results we've come to expect from the iStock we know and love  :)

Manual means you've gone in there and tried to sort out the dog's breakfast.

What a pain.

Admins have said that "Auto" means you haven't fixed the keywords yet. "Manual" means you've already fixed the keywords.

I'm glad this forum is here!  If you guys wouldn't have told me about this, I don't think I really would have paid any attention to it on istock.  So thanks!!  I did go back and fix a few of my files there.  When I was finished with one file, it would be marked as Manual instead of Auto.  And any files that were uploaded after the change are actually marked as Manual.
