Title: August 2020 data is available ESP
Post by: Uncle Pete on September 18, 2020, 12:45
Just thought I'd post this for anyone who cares. I'm not terribly excited after Getty removed 3,657 sports photos of mine during the renovations, and recently found a new audio partner and removed all my SFX files. (which earned me more than photos) I expect to make the $100 limit and cash out in July of 2021.  :(

ESP has updated.

Like photos of politicians and celebs, to avoid conflict with Getty togs.

Another strong month, right now IS seems like my best option, despite all I can't deny it keeps earning for me.

I made 45 cent from Getty Connect  :)

It has now been a year since I closed my account, and I wonder how long it will take before these small payouts stop.

I'd like to know too, how long does it take after deactivation for them to permanently make the images unavailable? Does anyone know?

Maybe because Istock is Istock and Getty is Getty

I have opened a support ticket with the question, so hopefully there will soon be an answer.

Yup, I understand, just business, but I don't like it.

Some events I'm standing next to Getty "hired guns". They might even be using Getty lenses and equipment. This could have changed, but last time I asked one of them, he said they were paid for the contract work, all the images and Getty owned all the rights. So the obvious reason why my work was deactivated, is I'm competing with images that they make 100% and own.

The guy from USA Today, as different example, does his own work, with his own equipment, and retains the rights to his images.

Some of the people I work for, demand exclusive on the images I upload, but everything else is mine and I still own all rights to everything. Websites just pay for what they use, if anything. If I take 2,000 images, I might only upload the five best, for the news service, then I'd select alternate shots for SS and IS. I tried some on other sites like DT and never had a download. Why bother?

Tough market, just like everything else, the big agencies control the contracts, the little guys get the scraps. I don't mind, because the biggest motorsports agency in the world is a nice group of people, friendly and they do top work for top clients. Kind of like, contract subscriptions to provide to major publications. Not saying this in an unfriendly way towards Getty, but LAT kicks Getty's ass in the area of Motorsports.  ;D Just a fact.

Please don't forget to come back when you find out. Not a big deal, but waiting until July 2021 doesn't sound very appealing.

Closed my istock account months ago, still sales at istock.

Worst month for earnings this year due to not a single larger sale (over $2). :(

How you* know you're failing on iStock: when you are downloading your stats and the pop-up says it could take "up to ten minutes" and your stats download in less than ten seconds.  ;D
Where 'you' = 'me'

In my case they fit on one page, which is another sign.

One question:

Who returns a .64 image?  :o Maybe Oringer is buying at the competence?

They gave me this answer:

Connect sales are only generated once a year. So the Connect sales you received were most likely from your last year as a contributor being 2019.

So they didn't answer my question about how long then small payments will continue. And the the part about Connect sales only being generated once a year, I don't get. I see them almost every month.

I see connect sales every month also, so something is wrong with the support answer.
