BoostMatch is an alternative to using a regular web browser to search content on istock. it's a 100% free windows application tuned towards frequent buyers' needs and will make searching and results management as easy as never before.

it will save you lots of time, frustration and even money:

* it's faster than a browser.
* you can add multiple files to lightboxes using drag & drop. say goodbye to clicking-five-times-for-each-file.
* it gives you more possibilities to manage your results: you can set private ratings (independently of those on the site) and apply filters just as you would in a photo management software.
* it immediately shows you more interesting content from artists' portfolios.
* you can navigate between all searches (and sort orders) you have looked at. no more re-searching, re-sorting, re-srolling.
* it highlights files you have already downloaded so you will never accidentally download files twice.
* it will help you with keyword disambiguation so you will never again miss content which is actually there but not covered by the default meanings (i know disambiguation is a tricky thing. try a search for e.g. 'flamenco' or 'film' to see what i mean)
* and a lot more

...have fun with it and let me know what you think!

I don't have Windows but it sounds like you're attempting to do what iStock haven't been able to do themselves ever - i.e. have a search engine that actually works.

I don't understand the expression 'frequent buyers' in the context of Istock.

As far as I know, most contributors and buyers use Mac. A Mac version in the future would be a good move.

LOL!  Thanks for the good laugh ;D

But Nullplus, congrats on creating such a clever search tool!  Istock are very lucky to have people like you, and the folks who keep putting out Greasemonkey scripts, making tools to make the site more user friendly.  Although it should come from them, this will certainly be very welcome to buyers.  :)

Out of curiosity, does it preserve the exclusive bias?

you mean the best match favoring exclusives? yes, that stays. boostmatch doesn't change aynthing about the sorts, you get exactly the same results as you would on the site.

well, boostmatch is only replacing your browser, not the sarch engine on istock's servers (this is also why i don't / can't do anything about any biases in the sort). so if the servers are down or give you messy results, boostmatch will theoretically do so, too. although i have seen quite some instances where searching with a browser didn't work, while boostmatch was working fine.

the application is less about having a "search that works" and more about having all those tools and functionalities which you need around the basics of "entering a keyword and pressing a button". think of it as a mix between a searching tool and a photo management tool.

i get this a lot ;) however, since this is a free tool and has already taken a lot of time and effort to be brought where it is without returning anything yet, i will first have a look at what success it has on windows. if buyers should actually use it, i may take a dip at mac development, too. otherwise, there will most probably be no mac version.

I haven't tried it but I read about it this morning  http://www.istockphoto.com/adobe?sp_rid=&sp_mid=4538780

just to make sure no misunderstandings sneak in: boostmatch and istock's adobe plugin are two totally different things.
