Title: bronze canister?
Post by: Peter on July 25, 2008, 03:56
what would I get when I reach bronze canister? I need 14 more sales for it.

After 5 months, my IS stats:

Total Downloads:   236
Total uploads:   279
Account balance:    $7.83
Total earnings:    $208.83
Acceptance rate:    84.08%

not very happy with it, but better than nothing for sure.

You don't get anything, unless you're exclusive.

well you get a bronze canister ;-)

 but as Seren said that doesn't buy you anything.

It used to mean an additional 5 upload slots per week but that was changed recently when the queue exploded

its back to a week now for the first time in a while

You could apply for exclusivity ;)

I'm sure the uploads/week thing will relax as the queue comes down, so the extra uploads might help eventually.

I believe that if you're bronze, you're eligible to become an exclusive.

Yes, but there is also an acceptance rate requirement if you have between 250 and 500 downloads. Once you get over the 500 then they drop the acceptance rate requirement (I don't remember what it was).

50%, I think.

with 5% total income from IS, becoming exclusive is the LAST thing I would do right now. If I would be exclusive anywhere, it would be Fotolia. But I wont be exclusive. I love SS too. hhh

Yes, it is 50% and the OP is well qualified.

I noticed something:

since I became bronze canister, I dont get rejections for artifacting, or some microscopic error reasons. I get about 100% accepted now, and I dint change anything in my technique since I was not bronze, and I was getting pretty much "artifacting at full size" rejections before.

I don t think canister's color matters for rejection rate but I might be wrong of course  ;)

If you become exclusive at IS , how long you have to stay exclusive before you can cancel that ?

Not going to happen by the way , but I would just like to know.

Question.
Did you notice your sales go down at IS after you dropped being exclusive?

From IS homepage:

How long am I committed?

If you get cold feet, you can cancel your Exclusive contract with 30 days notice, after providing us with a reason ("it's not you, it's me"). And we'll always take you back, with a 90 day reinstatement waiting period.

@Mauros:
Technical problems and non-exclusive members/friends told me, that IS income is only a fraction from the whole income with all agencies. BTW: If you are exclusive, you can´t taking part on the most photo-contests.

@nosaya:
Yes, of course a little bit, because i´ve lost the exclusive bonus, but since i´ve uploaded to the Big 6 my income has doubled.

There are positives and negatives with Exclusivity.
If you have large portfolios on several agencies and you get good money, you never should go exclusive on one agency.
If you´re uploading only to one agency and it works well for you and you don´t want to waste time with uploading to other agencies, go exclusive.

If you´re a beginner upload to several agencies, wait a year and then decide what to do!
