Title: can't find the exit
Post by: stockastic on February 06, 2014, 12:08
It's been 3 weeks since I created a support ticket asking IS to close my account, and I've heard nothing.

Anyone else in this situation?

Post on the forum and an admin might 'push' it, but you might just be told to wait.

It only took a few days to respond to my exit request a couple of months ago....but I'm sure they were anxious to get rid of me.....

I'll be looking for the exit very shortly.  I don't have a lot of images with istock and haven't been uploading to them for at least six months.

The other day I found one of my images on a magazine cover.  I look at my earnings on istock and nothing is over a buck and change.  A cover on a magazine doesn't rate more than that?

I have a ticket into support but they've already come back with "sorry for the long wait....what was the question again?"

Not unless it has a print run of 500,000 or over.

I deactivated all my images but one in January. And 5 minutes ago I created a support ticket asking to close my account. I hope they will close my account soon.

Reminds me of the Eagle's Hotel California: "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave..." If anyone is planning on closing their account and pulling all their images from istock and the Getty family, it might be wise to send them a dated registered letter telling them what you want. I'm hearing of people leaving istock and still having their images for sale on Getty related sites. Best to make it clear in case something pops up in a future search. I don't trust the reliability of support tickets anymore.

Yes that happened to me, where I found out (from a buyer who bought one) that Getty was still selling my images months after the images were deactivated and the account closed. A registered letter is probably a good idea.

Still waiting, it's been almost a month.

Seriously wishing I'd never heard of IStock.

Go to the ticket and update it. Ask for an update

Better send another ticket.
I and others have found that updating a ticket tends to make it 'disappear', though whether that was a temporary 'bug' or not, I couldn't say.
In your shoes, I'd certainly post on their help forum by now, and ask that your '30 days written notice' should date from the date of your first ticket.

Received an email today with an apology for the delay and the standard line about "higher than normal contact levels".  Unfortunately, they still haven't closed the account,  the email is just a request to (once again) confirm my PayPal address for payment of the balance.

Not wanting to enter another endless queue for payment, I took the option of donating the few remaining bucks to "Istock Cares", their charity pool.  Maybe that will get me out faster.

UPDATE:  my reply to the email generated an automated "you have replied to an email that is not monitored".   So all I could do was add a comment to the ticket, which as others have pointed out, may go nowhere.

So I resume waiting....

Ask them to deactivate all images in your account and they'll close your account in one second! ;)

They're already deactivated.  It might not even make any difference if I never closed the account; but what worries me is the idea that they still have those images stored somewhere and if so, who knows where they might end up.

No kidding! I have problem with them, maybe you saw before... They said there is no option to deactivate, they just close accounts and bye bye...
Or I can deactivate files one by one, hundreds of files...  ;D But they don't help.
Strange...

Account closed.  Maybe they're catching up with their backlog.

And I got replay today that they closed my account... It took about 1 month and many emails without answers for my easy questions... ;)

Ufff!

At last my account was closed at February 19. Honestly, I'm very happy. No more worries about IS and PP for me.
