"The glitch monsters are at work down in the dark internety room, but they sent a note up that said: Dear You, Me fix broken thing. Sorry for trouble. Love, Monsters.

They, and the site, will be back up soon. In the meantime, wed like to offer you 10% off your next purchase of 50 or more iStock credits using the coupon code below."

How about offering me an extra 10% commission for the inconvenience and lost sales? and maybe make the offer like you're talking to a grownup?

This "cute" angle doesn't work with a large business like this, especially when the website is the business and it's down quite frequently. Oh well, hopefully it will be up before too long. In the meantime they can work on their PS skills a-la masking, as the background image they've used has given Jay a blue booger. Maybe that's why he looks so annoyed. I thought it was because iS was down again.

There's pros and cons for being exclusive but at times like these, I'm pleased I have my portfolio on lots of sites.  Istock really seem to be doing all they can to lose buyers, could be another good month for Shutterstock.

I missed the booger, well spotted!

they should care about the customers and have a link to Shutterstock there ;-). Maybe SS will gie 10% off to new customers defecting?

I thought you were joking with that italic quote. Thats the real message? I would seriously question their professionalism and be thoroughly pissed off when downtime is taken that lightly.

I'm exclusive so I'm not very happy at the moment... sales have not been good this week. I hope they make their staff work during the weekend to solve this disaster but I guess that's to much to hope for...

I would hate having to go back to be independent but I guess I'll have to sooner or later if iStock keeps going in this downward spiral.

They've done it for years, ever since iS was the hip and fun company, back in the day. They only do it in English, though. The other languages have a mature messages.

I thought they only bought that one in about a year or so back, after they became a corporate cash cow that was trying desperately to look like a cool, hip place.

When they were really cool and hip they talked to us as if we were adults.

Ever since I've been around (very late 2006) they've had wee 'cutsie' messages for when they're down, not that particular one.
I wasn't around if they had adult messages earlier,so I assumed it was a legacy from the Bruce days.

Ah, I thought you meant that particular one, which really is the worst drivel of the lot.

Oh no, in German they try to humor us with the cute little monsters as well. A target audience of 100 million people in Europe get to enjoy this "professional" message. But the page looks better than the last one, guess I should be happy.

How do I not care about how their site looks like as long as sales and functionality is down the toilet...  :-X
