Istock have deactivated all my shoots of Triathlon events 30 photos saying they no longer want that sort of editorial images. They suggested I upload them to Getty images. Is this the right place to sell them ? anyone suggest a better site ( I already sell on SS, DT, Bigstock, Deposite and 123.

Did you click on the Getty link on your email? It doesn't lead to a way to upload your deactivated pics to Getty, it's an application to be a Getty editorial photographer. I didn't apply, but I've read that one person who tried couldn't complete the form as s/he was "already on iStock".

For anyone who didn't get or read the notification sent out some weeks ago this is all part of the Unification process with Istock Editorial becoming Unreleased Creative. Essentially all the stuff that Istock didn't initially allow when they launched Editorial some years back, then started to allow, is now out again. This includes politicians, celebrities, professional sports, elections, political protests/demonstrations etc. The sort of images that buyers would expect Getty to be covering (as they put it). Anything requiring press credentials would also be out (even if you have them). Still allowed, for example, are travel/street type images, parades etc with unreleased people (as long as they are not famous people!). In my own case I had about 35 disabled -most of which were of British Home Secretary Amber Rudd (she's my local M.P.). Also out for me were performance shots of local bands at a local music festival -they weren't exactly famous but probaly got interpreted as "celebrities". Oh well, they're all still for sale at SS/BS/123/DT etc.

Just out of curiosity - if you put your editorials on Getty, aren't they supposed to be exclusive there?

As far as I know, yes. Also sisters/similars.

I received the notice too. And I decided to allow my editorials there to become deactivated. Seems to me to be one tiny but easy step of walking away.

got the notification too and it affects me really bad. I was waiting to see the new system and then decide whether to close my account or not, but with the editorial deactivations just got one step closer.
I had a bunch of editorial political photos mostly from African countries taken during elections in the past 10 years, they were not the "breaking news" type, but were selling quite well as secondary editorial whenever those countries were hitting the news pages and niche blogs. Also had some high profile politicians rallying in the rural areas usually not covered by professional news journos/photographers.
I simply can't get Istock's logic, they were making profit from those pictures, as I was making money. Now they simply demoted iStock contributors with editorials to second class contributors and are deactivating our files. So not, I won't be applying to Getty, instead will try to place them on Alamy once the files are gone on iStock.

Many of mine gone too. Applied to Getty but it had no terms and no promise of a reply. Looking more hopeless on IS as they make everything more difficult and less rewarding with every new announcement.
