Title: December 2019 Royalty Stats report
Post by: Uncle Pete on December 18, 2019, 16:48
The phone app shows views and download stats, January through December, doesn't show earnings. Shouldn't be long before this will be an active topic.

What is the name of the "right" phone app (Android)?

Both! Just wanted to start early and beat the rush when everyone gets their last sour gift from Getty, for the year.

I looked on my iPhone, Getty Contributor app and it says, Jan 2017 - Dec 2019, Views Sales "Sales are not yet included for December", does it always show sales and views? Maybe that's nothing and I thought it was a something. Like earnings will be released today?

ps my top selling photo has no views and 137 sales with a note: This photo has been removed. Gotta love Getty for being as clear as mud. DM doesn't show what photo it was either.

Thank you, I never would have guessed, and it's an audio file, which kind of explains why no image? Not a deleted files, just that it's getting more downloads than my images.  :)

I feel happy, i stopped uploading to istock over a year ago.
Low earnings (% / 0.0002) and more strange things.
I know a few companies asked where there is more of this image series to have a uniform website and so changed to adobestock and others. This is one reason for sure my adobestock and 123rf earnigns have doubled in the last months. I wouldn`t even notice if the number of sales of  0.0002$ each would increase  ;D

Happened to me. Few months back, I found download numbers great which build lot of excitement.

But when the real stats came out, getty showed me finger.

 ;D

You know what this makes me think of? I go to SS, like right now, and I see that someone in Cebu City, Philippines, just downloaded one of my images. I go to Adobe and I see that (date:time) someone downloaded one of my images. I go to Alamy and I see, my most recent sale, the date, the license and how much it sold for. I go to DT and I see the sale, the date, the type of license, and the buyer. (and all of these above have additional information, I'm just saying, the landing page and the obvious)

I go to iStock by Getty and I see, nothing. I look on the app and I see two years of stats, I look at earnings and see October 1st data or an error message. And it's past the middle of December. Even if the system was working, the information is delayed and pretty crappy or difficult to decipher. The IS exception is Deep Meta which is outstanding! Or today is 20 where someone created a page to decode the IS jumble.

But then I think, big agency, major world player, and we get drips and dribbles, delayed data, sales for cents, mystery corrections. And I ask myself, why do I subject myself to this? Am I that needy that I need the spare change that the almighty Getty tosses at me, now and then. My income and commissions, being they are at 15% and a toad couldn't live off them, are pathetic.

I've come up with a plan for 2020 for myself:

1) Stop Looking, or thinking that IS/Getty is going to report anything, that I'll want to see. Wait for the email saying the data is online. (which comes from someone else) Then look at the sad pennies that I just earned.

2) Take the money and keep buying my annual bottle of expensive, Single Malt Scotch, but avoid eye contact or any contact or caring to try to locate information from iStock. Drink the scotch and stop torturing myself trying to drag information or data out of a black hole.

What I mean is, stop uploading, stop caring, stop looking, and if I get the urge to see what's going on, think of something else, like hitting my thumb with a hammer, or dropping a rock onto my foot. Either is less painful.  ;D

If you didn't follow the above comments, it looked like we were all going to get our statements yesterday.  But then some people got statements that didn't belong to them.  Then it went back to looking like they were uploading data again.  And then it went back to just showing October.  So, no one has their statement yet.

My iStock statement month is still showing Tuesday, October 1, 2019 despite it being the 20th November 2019.

"Royalty statements are available on the 20th of each month, for transactions occurring in the previous month. For example any licenses of your content during the month of January will be reported on February 20th. Licenses of your content during the month of February will be reported on March 20th and so on."

You can only imagine how the accounting department works there. It has not happened once but dozens of times since I have been with them that there are delays , inconsistent data, etc . In all those years working with stock there have been reliable agencies where I trust the reports I get and others (AGE Fotostock,Depositphotos, etc) where I just never was sure about the truth of the reports. Unfortunately I think Getty is in the second group not because of bad intentions but because of incompetence.

This has happened once or twice before since ESP.
There have been frequent 'downs' in ESP over the last couple of weeks.

I guess it's another Getty example of the problem of allocating the percentages between malice and incompetence.

Are  you uploading each month's text file to TodayIs20? AFAICS you have to do that manually, it doesn't go and fetch your stats from iStock itself.

Just received an email from Todayis20 saying stats were up. Checked on esp and had a very bad month. On Todayis20 July is the last month I have stats for. Am I not doing something right?
Are  you uploading each month's text file to TodayIs20? AFAICS you have to do that manually, it doesn't go and fetch your stats from iStock itself.

Thank you Sue. I must have done so earlier and forgot. Memories fading and forgetting. I'll try to do it proper now. Thanks again. (until next time when I will be asking again like it was a new thing)
Don't worry, I do that too!  :-[

getty is killing micro stock...that s why in ss enhanced and big single are disappeared like in adobe...they are giving away for penny to big corporations photos thanks to that f..ing premium access.

people don't understand because in micro stock every body is so desperate to earn that 100 dollar from getty to survive....but if we don't stop uploading and remove all our portfolio there is simply no hope...i have record of images sold and an rpd of 0,35 cent....at the beginning of year rpd was 1 dollar...same for exclusive contributor if you read esp forum it's clear even their rpd is falling down....getty is giving away images with all right for penny, same for video...if we don't stop now soon ss and adobe should fight back with less expensive sale and most of all less royalty for us..it's only a mater of time. personally i have open a ticket to cancel my account...i lost some thousand dollar per year but i feel better. hundred if sale to partner portal ,aka canvas , fior 8 cent while in canva i sell for 5 times more...getty is the evil of micro stock together with unsplahs...if we don't understand please stop complaining. it0s only our fault.

I've had an 'remittance advice' email which presumably is my poor-ish earnings for November, though they're not showing on my ESP page (just the apology message) and it hasn't actually appeared in PayPal yet.

Later: Now in PayPal (1830 GMT)

Same as Hoodie: "We’re experiencing an unexpected delay in reporting your statement(s) and are working hard to resolve the issue. This does not impact our ability to issue payments. We apologize for the inconvenience." Nice that you got paid, I don't think I've accumulated enough, so my next will be 2020.

I'm still getting the apology message in ESP.

No way they can apologize for this.  :) My bottom five for this reporting month.

ILLUSTRATION    iStockphoto 0.18$
ILLUSTRATION    iStock Essentials 0.15$

4¢ download? And it's sure good that I get those valuable higher commissions for Illustrations. (https://i.postimg.cc/fR639DYb/bartcrap.gif)

I think that's said it all for me, and I'm going with my new plan, which is, no comment on the issue of returns or income from iStock until next month. No use beating this situation, nothing is going to change or get better.

Only reason I will consider uploading anything, ever again would be:
1) to make an even number for my dormant collection
or
2) Complete and total boredom, nothing else to do anyplace else that's more profitable. (slim chance of that)

I'm also sticking with the bottle of scotch plan, as there's still enough imcome coming in for my enjoyment, while I do nothing. Looking forward to more sales, so next Fall I can buy more high end single malts for the collection. Consider this, the years reward from iStock/Getty
