As my images meter shows I am a very small player at iStock (132 images). However, my sales drop for December is so bad that I contacted iStock support (FWIW).  I have just a single sale this month - average would be 10 or so.  I know December is supposed to be slow (although I have a BME on SS ) This is orders of magnitude lower than what I was getting 2 years ago for December.

Anyone else have similar experience there recently?

December is slow after 20-Dec, not now yet :)
So far my sales in December is above average (but I suspect the total for month will still be below average after the drop that will come soon).

Thanks for the info.  If mine drop to zero for the rest of Dec. this will be a really sad month for me.

My sales are OK this month.  I am sure yours would be better with a larger portfolio.  The sites all have a lot of images now and I am not surprised that your sales have fallen if you only have 132 images in a collection nearing 6 million.

Fred,

I'm like you, just a hundred or so up on the sites out there.  I also know that the last few years that Dec had been a bad month until the last week when budgets are needing to be spent.  I work with an Exclusive from iStock and he is having the same issue on a daily basis with a couple bright spot days.  This will pick up in time and I will agree with the other that posted that our number of files does present a problem at times like this in the year.  (time to go out and shoot more pictures and upload more!).

Good luck and enjoy the holiday.

My ports larger than yours, but I'm seeing sales in line with last month.  I expect it'll drop off to nothing around Christmas and stay that way through the end of the year, but am prepared to be surprised.  Last year I saw a 40% drop at iS from November to December.  I'm thinking it'll be less dramatic this year.

My sales are currently on a par with November, which is good for me for 2009, but poor compared to Dec 2008.

I also have a small portfolio which I think are good images, they all sell over time.  My IS sales cratered in December, nothing for days.  I'm not even trying to read or understand all the postings here about the latest changes to pricing plans, commissions and exclusiivity, it's obvious that IStock is twisting everything around to favor the big players with the big numbers and try to sign them up as exclusives, and if the rest of us just went away that would be fine by them.

I am also a small port guy (200) and have been waiting for $ 0.78 to make payout.  And waiting . . . .  and waiting . . . . and waiting! I thought I had a trend going after a BME last month.  So, I am waiting . . . . . . . . .

Well, you have 132 images of random travel snaps.  You can't expect consistent sales on that.

What was your download total for November?

i have an even smaller port than yours, but sales have been really even every month, although bme was back in september. this month is shaping up to do really well, but my port has grown also. my sales are pretty diversified, between people, landscapes, and food. but your landscapes are pretty amazing.

Thanks for looking.  I know I should not expect much consistency with such a smalll port but it has been pretty consistent over the last 20 months or so.  Lots of ups and downs but never fluctuating even 50%.  November was  about average at 22 dls so I am a very far off of November so far.  Previous Decembers have not been bad.

Just whining really.  Thought it might be something technical - but I can't think what - so just checking to see what everyone else was experiencing.

Thanks to all for the replles.

No complaints here.  December 09 is my BME so far.  It's my 14th month at microstock, with about 750 pics on most of the sites.

Do you have all your images opted into the partner program?

Do you have all your images opted into the partner program?

Actually, I was wondering how that might affect my sales but I have been opted out all along (opted out of all subscription plans) so I'm not sure why it would start showing up now.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The vast majority of your sales come from only about 8 images - if your most popular images suddenly drop out of fashion, or if someone has uploaded something similar, it would impact your sales disproportionately.

You need to get a larger and more varied selection uploaded...  shoot, upload, repeat...
