help, i cant upload in deepmeta v3
"Error: Response status code does not indicate success: 403 (forbidden)"
does anyone have the same experience..?

Me.

But I attribute it to the fact that I tried to use my iStock email and password since I didn't receive the new credentials. Login seems to work, but then I am not actually enabled to use ESP.

Did you receive their email?

I'm still quite new to microstock and this forum keeps surprising me. Lowest commissions, terrible site usability, confusing sales data and now even concealed earnings, dumb support and usual greed... And you keep examining some new version of additional app for just one site (which is really weird by itself). I guess they should try paid access to their site...

Thanks for this Franky.  I am not currently uploading to Istock,  but if I ever start back up, this will be a lot easier than tackling Gettys ESP.

Can you use it with your iStock login, or do I have to go over and get set up on Getty?
You need to use your new login info.

Reporting bugs and frustrated issues so far:
1). bring back ctrl+c > ctrl+v shortkeys option. Is really annoying to click everything with mouse
2). When uploading, and some bug occurs, the uploading stops, and you need to click on "upload" once again manually. Make it auto please.

Question to frank: if i have 3 different types of photoshoots, i.e. refreshing drink ; people in the park; light bulbs. Can i all 3 of  them add to same batch upload and upload as one whole group? or i need to create 1 batch for refreshing drink, and another batch for people in the park and another for lightbulbs?

Finally managed to log in and download deepmeta 3.0. I'm watching the tutorial and to be quite honest, I don't like the new version at all. The old one was much more intuitive and easy to use but I guess he had to cripple the program to accommodate ESP. I wonder how much money they wasted on all this? Guess that explains the latest round of paycuts for everyone...

You're probably mostly referring to the way Batches are handled?
I must admit I've been struggling with this. The ESP site is 100% focused around batches: it's your starting and endpoint. This makes sense for ESP, being an upload portal.

With DeepMeta, I don't want to lose the "portfolio management" part. I know there's very little (if any) management left in V3 at this point, but to me, V3 a new starting point, and I'm determined to go beyond what DM 2 could deliver.

This is why I still have flat lists of Files and Releases in there. Contributors will want to see stats and work at the level of their portfolio as such, not necessarily in the context of batches.

I realize I have a long way to go, but I'm not a quitter ;)

All feedback, positive and negative is totally welcome. Don't hold back ;)

Don't get me wrong Franky, I do appreciate Deepmeta and your years of support, refusing to accept any kind of payment from contributors. I'm glad Getty did the right thing and put you on the payroll.

My frustration is with ESP which is much more cumbersome and less transparent than what we had. I log in, and am greeted with a big nothing, a nuclear winter of zero data. I can't even see any of my portfolio. Did they solicit any kind of feedback from actual contributors before rolling this out and foisting it on the community?

Granted, the old upload interface was istock's Achilles heel, but with Deepmeta 2.X, uploading, tracking portfolio and performance was a joy. Deepmeta 3.X, as it stands now is a step back into the dark ages. Again, not your fault, we're all Getty's handmaidens in this with no say.

I'm hoping things will improve, but at the moment, I have zero motivation to upload, especially in light of ever dwindling sales.

Again, thanks for your hard work, if you had a hundred siblings to run IT, things would be ok.

I've uploaded v3 and all my files from the old version are gone. Somewhere it says I can continue to run V2 separately but the v3 installation seems to have written over v2, so I can't run the old version.

How can I access all of that previous information?

 >:( >:(
The new v3 does not overwrite the old version. If you're on windows, you should see both versions in the installed applications list.

In any case, once the dust settles and there is more known about which statistics will be made available from the ESP API, I will add import functionality for the old V2 data, which is still there. V3 stores its data alongside the old one.

Thanks, I sent you the jpg for test but the mail server said: "the user's maildir has overdrawn his diskspace quota, please try again later."

thanks
Roverto
Perhaps the file is just too big for email (or at least for my provider).
If it's not too much trouble, perhaps you can get the file to me through dropbox or similar. Just a thought. Thanks

Thanks for the report.
1) is irritating indeed, will fix that soon, promise.
2) Fixed in v3.0.1

And for 3: yes 3 separate batches, from what I understand.

Don't worry, and I understand. DeepMeta 3 is currently more of a version 1, because of the decision I made to rebuild some architectural blocks from the ground up. It's an investment I decided to make, and I am 100% willing to take any criticism this results in. All justified. You have to know what your goal is, and mine is still to make uploading and follow up of an iStock portfolio as efficient as possible.

I'm in this for the long term. 8)

The iStock/Getty unification is also a kind of reset, but I know first hand there's a dedicated and talented team behind ESP. The whole migration thing was a major undertaking, and I guess the only way is up for them too.

Having something else than "English" as keywording language in your profile at the ESP site is not working well at the moment, with funky keyword suggestions. Until this is fixed, set to english at: https://esp.gettyimages.com/app/profile
Then logout and in again. After that, keywording in DeepMeta will be sane again.

Of course they should.
But they didn't.

You need to use your new login info.

Thanks for that,  Sue.  I did manage to get my new login using the method in this thread.  Thanks helpful people.  :)  Still no plans to resume upload there, but nice to know I could if I change my mind.

DeepMeta 3 looks good. The only issue I'm having is after attaching MRs, the file shows MR attached but when I go to upload the MR column shows "0." I'll see when they reviewed which column is incorrect.

There was a bug with releases in the Windows version of 3.0. Version 3.0.1 fixes this. Thanks for reporting.

Yes surprising but  they keep on selling it seems..in the end its buyer's experience that matters.

Don't forget how big and old that site is. There are thousands of photos uploaded by each of many contributors. It's no surprise they are STILL in top tier. There is no chance for an oil tanker to sink in 5 minutes. I guess the poll made by relatively new contributors uploading only for 2 or 3 years would look completely different. And the poll made by the newest authors would surely be without istock - they simply don't know their earnings there :)

What's the big deal about batches?
Pro: you could get the pics showing as from same set.
Con: If you upload a batch which hits the database at a time when best match is penalising new files, you might effectively 'lose' these files forever, and it's not as though we can delete them an reupload them at a more favourable time, as we could before. Many people have historically split batches while uploading for that reason.

(Franky, I'm not getting at you, I see it's what iS is encouraging via ESP.)

Hi Francky,

Thanks a lot for this update of DeepMeta. I like the interface even better than the version2 ! And I understand that the main drawbacks (batches, date, country, and no information on earnings) are not due to you.

Here's one small suggestion after using the new version of DeepMeta:

When working with a file, it would be nice to be able to delete a keyword in the rightmost column (under "Please refine..."). Sometimes it happens that one of my auto-loaded IPTC keywords is not relevant because I cannot find the right meaning in the vocabulary list offered by Getty. In this case, I have to let this keyword on the top, and continue working with the second keyword. Or I can click on the unwanted keyword and then delete it in the column on the left. But either way, it would be even faster to directly delete it from the column on the right  :)
