You have to request it and they say they will only do it for legal reasons. Unless they changed plans?

Only remaining option to remove a lot of images AFAIK is to close account.  I am waiting to see what my monthly payout is for the first month after the new payment scheme.  If it is noticeably down from current rate, then I will be closing my account.  Frack 'em.

Write to CR to close your account. There is no other way.

I don't think this is accurate.  You can ask them to delete images for other reasons than just legal, see what they say.

Already wrote to them to close the account. I don't like the idea to ask for permission to delete my own images. I anyway didn't have lot of images, and few sales only... Thanks everyone for answers and clarification.  :)  Unfortunately I closed it, but  what else could be done beside, when one cant even remove some images..

I had a bunch of photos that I had exported from LR at a smaller resolution by mistake. I put them in a Lightbox and opened a ticket and asked to have them removed so I could upload the high res files.  They did. And I did.

I'm more interested in what happens to my rpd. I have no doubt they can increase sales by paying me 2c per dl and aggressively discounting subs packages, taking all my sales from other sites paying me 10x as much per dl. This could even increase my now pitiful income from istock, I'd just be loosing way more from other sites.

Right.  My decision will consider the total effect on my sales. That means I will hold on longer if necessary in order to make that conclusion.  It will take months for buyers to slowly abandon their current site and transition to IS, if at all.  If in month one I have my income on IS cut in half, but nothing elsewhere, that is a very good indicator of the future.  If that income goes up and I see other income streams go down, bye bye. If I see income cut in half, and no cannibalization going on at other sites, bye bye IS.  For me, IS needs to at least sustain my current income without noticeable cannibalization from other sites, I will stay.  However, I will not upload video there any longer because of their heavy discounting and SH!TTY royalties. $6-7 royalty is shameful.  Same for 4k, forget it. I was hoping for better news on the video angle for IS, but wishful thinking is not a business skill that works.

I don't see how my income could possibly increase or even stay steady under the new scheme.  I'm just curious if the .02 is the worst case scenario horror story or a common reality.  If I start getting good paying Getty sales that might mitigate the losses.

But I agree with Mantis.  I will also not let them cannabalize my sales on other good paying sites.  That's suicide.

I'm going to see what the average sub royalty ends up being, but I have a feeling it will be too low for me...

I recently closed my acc on istock. Not worth bothering. I did it for 123rf too. And waiting payout from DT and will close them too. Only FT and SS are worth for me.

I have already started to delete. Have got thousands of files left to erase so its going to take some time.

Well IS have got themselves only to blame. They treated independents like garbage and soon they be left with their 10% of exclusives. Not much to hang in a X-mas tree.

Why not just ask CR to close your a/c? At least that way you have a contractual timeframe for the files to be removed from Thinkstock, which you don't have by deleting.

Now that you mention it - are you saying that files can again be deactivated by suppliers? Last we read there, they had closed that door as they had said they would.

I can see it. They can pay out literally almost 20X less (2c vs 38c) than Shutterstock. The amount they can discount a buyer would be mad not to switch, all things being equal, which is why it is so important we make things unequal by refusing to upload any of our work to IStock.

If they didn't plan on regularly giving us 2c/dl they wouldn't have it in the contract. Why would they sour contributor relations for no reason?

I asked them that over a month back and nothing ever happen. I will give it a second try however.

The contract states 30 days, so if your ticket was taken out over 30 days ago, contact them again saying they are in breach of contract. It wouldn't hurt (but might not help) to post on their forum saying you contacted them over 30 days ago (but don't say that if it isn't accurate or you'll just get snarked at).

I have that part covered.  I haven't uploaded to istock in almost 3 years.

As for souring contributor relations for no reason, they've done that so often I think it must be in their mission statement.

I'm really struggling to understand why any non-exclusive would want to have anything to do with istock now?  It's much easier to close your account rather than go through support to delete individual images.  They aren't going to make us much money selling as low as $0.02 and if people put up with that, the other sites will follow.

So non-exclusives that stay with istock are going to ruin microstock for themselves and everyone else.  Surely this has to be the time to get out?
