Title: Designer about Exclusive Plus
Post by: vonkara on April 19, 2010, 20:58
Exclusive Contributor Plus? When the  did that happen? Seems like every time I log onto the site they have added a new price band!

Come next time they would have just dropped the branding and be calling it Getty. Or just call the stuff in the old price band 'The crap you'll never find a use for

The crap you'll never find a use for - LOL!

announced a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately communication is not a real strong point

There is almost no communication between designers and the rest of us (agencies/photographers). That's partly the reason I posted this... and the link

i'm surprised at all the swearing. for all the venting microstockers do, we seem a much more civil lot.  :D

maybe it's because we don't have 'clients' to deal with.

thanks for the link.  Interesting to read their thoughts - but really.  I don't think the images are over priced.  There are images in every price class.  iStock has done a good job and charging fair prices for their (our) photos.

I would be very interested to get designer reaction to the introduction of another price "band" at IS. I don't think this site is it.

The link points to a thread with 2 posts from last night and nothing since. I looked around elsewhere on that site and didn't see any other angry designer threads. There was one comment from early in March this year from a designer looking for a free photo site - he commented that he used to use iStock exclusively but didn't any more because of price increases.

doesn't sound like a very professional designer forum.

They should enjoy it while they have it and stop bitching. A few years ago they would have paid a few hundred dollars at a macro site.

Maybe a few hundred dollars was too much but a few dollars definately ain't enough. Prices need to keep going up to a reasonable point for buyers and contributors. Otherwise at some point they'll have to pick from a great selection of cheap outdated images and flowers/cats/brick walls.

The thing is, designers never really talk about microstock. I am looking at this forum since around 6 months now, and I can count on my hands the number of threads about stock photography. I searched for forums where they talk about stock, this is the one I found the most. That mean around 10 threads at all.

I asked questions before, only one answered.

And btw, none of you could handle the "internet" kind of humour that the designers are using on that forum lol. The Microstockgroup is a very polite forum actually
