For those of you who hate disambiguation, have you seen the new feature?  Subcategories in some keywords?

I only wished they would read our keyword suggestions.  For them notebook can not be a laptop.

Adelaide

haven't seen the new 'feature' - are you saying now it is MORE time craving?

The new feature is a drop-down list of keywords based on the keyword you entered. It's implemented in such a way that you can either use it or ignore it.

e.g. If you enter "Sky" you can optionally choose from "Sun", "Moon", "Overcast", "Stratosphere", "Clear Sky","Moody Sky", and "Sky Only".

Sure, it eats up time, but I only upload 3 images there per day, so it isn't that much extra time. It's useful in that it can also "suggest" keywords that you may have missed.

I agree as well; it seems time consuming but if you only have an image with 15, you can easily double your keyword count.

of course they tell you in selling school to never sell the features; sell the benefits ...

still trying to find a benefit with this one. maybe if you are new to English might help

The beneift would be to the buyer.  Question though.  Does this help the buyer or when they type in sky, do they get annoyed that they now have to select "clear sky" or "moody sky"?

ie. are they making the search to complicated for the buyer or do they appreciate the level of detail??

This is a new feature I can applaud. There's no need for new disambiguation unless you want to but as I constantly review my keywords for those I might have missed I'll be taking advantage of this new feature.

as a designer, sometimes i have to search very specific images and istock is the best place for 2 reasons: the search engine and the variety. on SS, DT and StockXpert are all the same images we upload, but istock have the exclusive ones...

latex: Do you find the quality of the images on IS to be superior to those found elsewhere? I'm curious, too, about the variety. Given that the major agencies have about the same quantity of images, why do you think the variety at IS is better?

mmm... interesting questions...
i think the quality is superior, yes.
about the variety, i suppose they reject more non exclusives images, but i really don't know the answer to that. maybe another reason is the limits for non exclusives, we have smaller portfolios on IS than on the other sites.

I don't mind the extra work in the new imags if it helps searches.  If searches are more effective to buyers, it's good for business.  The problem is going back to already DA'ed images...

Also some keywords still lack some important and valid meanings, and although I report them, I don't see this being addressed. That's my only complaint.

I'm new to IS, so I've no clue what you folks were going through before. I don't know anything but this pull-down keyword feature.  I'm only into my second batch of 15 and....  I think I like the feature.  Same as SharplyDone, I'm only loading 3 or 4 a day there. Just tonight I was loading & thinking, I really don't spend much more time in the IS process than  I do on many other sites.
What I don't like about IS is the category pick... who what where when why & what the heck am I doing?  I find it difficult to plug in many of my pix .     and...  I still don't know what the heck disambiguation is, hey, I can't even spell it.
What I do like about IS is....  with only a little over 20 pix onboard, I'm selling already.  And,  my rejection rate is low.  Hope it continues.  8) -tom
