Has any one noticed a drop in sales at iStock...and Dreamstime after having a large batch of rejections? I noticed this after having a bunch of photos rejected for having a property release but no model release. Antique photos. I just noticed since then both iStock as well as Dreamstime are dead in the water. Anyone else notice this or had this happen or is it just a slump in sales?

It's just a general slump in sales, there's not a conspiracy against you personally. I've only had 3 rejections out of the last 100-odd submissions but my sales this month are projected to be 30% down from the peak of March and 25% down compared to June 2009. Disappointing to say the least.

Thanks gostwyck. I tryed to get them through but they insisted on model releases for the dead people. I supplied them a property release, but a model release is a bit hard to get.... Anyway it's kinda good to know that is not the problem. Hope sales pick up soon.

I think the rule for deceased subjects is that next of kin needs to sign the model release - child, grand child - someone living :)

Yeah, sales at istock are low for most of the people I have talked to, regardless of rejection rates.

On DT, though, rejection rate does affect search placement, so it can have an effect on your sales.  Not sure how many rejections you had or how much it dropped your %, but it could theoretically have an affect at DT.

Yes they said I needed two signatures of descendant's or a will as well as a property release. These pictures were taken in the 1800's and they are ancestors back many generations. The good old studio shots. Dreamstime was the same way only they required only one signature on a model release. I didn't figure it was worth the trouble to plug up my upload slots so I'm not resubmitting. Shutterstock and Bigstock took them with just the property releases and they have been selling.

I had 13 or 14 images and they were all rejected at both sites. Not to good for the acceptance ratio.

Have not really noticed a slowdown in sales but whats worrying me much more is this new type of reviewing files,  there must be some trainee reviewer bunch that cant spot commercial value nor selling power but instead reject on the basis of a few weighted keywords ( which they ofcourse consider not weighted) sometimes I even doubt the knowledge of the English language.
Im beginning to find it very hard, justifying, working hard on files, uploading, only for some neewbie editor who is more interested in artifacts then commercial value and quality.
Not even the Getty-RM, bothers about that.
