Maybe, maybe not. Exclusivity used to be a good bet, now not so much.
Depends on your port.
Not under the current Best Match, which has been with us for months, and punishes excusive files if they get a few dls.
Maybe the best match will change. Who knows?
Good luck.

I've heard it would be the increase in sales
Is not it possible to say something about this situation?
How does istock if you look back?

It's different for everybody.
My downloads in July 2013 were the worst since April 2007, my fourth full month on iStock, and three months before becoming exclusive. Of course, prices have gone up since then, so $$ were the worst since Dec 2007.

Other people's experience might be different, and yours might be different.
FWIW, my BME for $$ and dls was November 2008.
Who can tell how you will do until it's happened?

No, of course not.
Everyone has different results, depending on their port and how lucky they are in Best Match. If  you have a unique niche which also has many buyers, you will do much better as your $$ for each sale will be more.
If your images have many rivals, it may be that buyers will choose lower priced files.
Or maybe not.
You just can't know in advance.

Let us know how you get on!

Nope.  There is no 'in general'.

I just drop in when I'm taking a break from other stuff. :-)
Gets old to regulars, but newbies don't seem to trawl through earlier posts, and to be fair, it's probably difficult to know what to search for.

It helped 3 years ago when I went exclusive. I saw a clear jump in search position and downloads, despite my images going up in cost. To hear current exclusives talk, it doesn't sound like there is as much advantage for them anymore. Even if they have a small search advantage, buyers are going to be attracted to the independent content which is much, much cheaper. Until they figure out these collections, we have no idea how the pricing is going to shake out.

Sue - judging from those figures, you seem to have suffered particularly badly from all the changes; my July $$s weren't the best, but it was still 4th BMY and better than 8 of the months in 2012.

Downloads, of course, are a different story...

Hope things improve there for you anyway. I've always enjoyed looking through your portfolio.

According to the poll on the right

Exclusives = 340.60 USD per month
Non Exclusives = 219.80 USD per month (20 Agencies combined)

Nope, those numbers need to be multiplied by 5 to get a dollar amount.  Exclusive is $1700/month and nonexclusive is $1100/month (assuming you added correctly, I didn't check that).

Thanks  ;)

in a nutshell, according to the poll results you get 35% less for 20 times the work uploading. i better drop my exclusivity.

I wonder how the numbers would look like if you exclude everyone who does not qualify for istock exclusivity from the poll results.

Sky, what was the effect of your exclusive membership to iStock? Was it worth going exclusive?
