The reality is that it is NEVER good news for the indy.
- reestablish the old public lightbox system and encourage people to "collect" files across their favorite theme and post these galleries to social media and sharing. Think of an intelligent system to reward those that do this and drive sales and traffic to istock. Use the crowd intelligently to curate millions of files. Discover and promote the editing talents in the community.

Of course there is never good news for independents because agencies are going to compete on price when they are trying to sell the exact same thing. When SS was the cheapest place everywhere else had to adjust to match them, now Adobe is cheaper so everywhere is going to have to adjust to match that. Expect that all the sites are going to have exciting announcements in September or soon after. It sure seems like Shutterstock will have to do something soon.

Never good. An announcement (maybe from any agency) should read, "Horrible announcement for contributors coming in September". Just be honest for crying out loud.

They definitely said that they had some announcements coming this fall, but that was before my Hawaii shoot in June.

Not that I care, but I imagine anything to do with the "state of RC targets and the like" to be pretty important to most people.

So it's not necessarily a big announcement.
