Title: Fantastic Review
Post by: w7lwi on August 01, 2007, 18:25
It's not often you get a rejection that you can be happy about.  The following message was on a rejection from iStock:

'Please downsize this image to a medium size image to help the focus of
this very pretty image ; thanks for your understanding

Now this is something I can understand and appreciate.

Kudo's to this reviewer!   ;D

Now just watch someone say this is one of their new automatic rejetion buttons!   :(

I don't know if it's a button, but I've seen that exact wording on my images 2 or 3 times in the past year. I never do resubmit as a medium though.

Heh, looks like you called that one.

I'll bet such comments won't be used once she/he becomes jaded/experienced.

Well, if you're looking for wonderful rejections, join LuckyOliver (http://www.luckyoliver.com/?loaf=maunger)! They give all kinds of advise and support on image reviews.

disclaimer: yes there's a referral link in that... yes, i'm the forum moderator on LO so i'm slightly biased - but, you honestly won't find better reviews in my experience.

Yes I can agree with mauger, you are allmost tempted to upload crappy images just to get this wonderful and encouraging rejections ;). But lately I have got none for quite a while, maybe you should get stricter with the reviews at LO so you guys at LO can bless us more with your  rejections ;D

Oh and I do have to add, there seems to be light at the horizon for LO. I had a couple of sales in July.  So I hope for the best for LO, since I do think their approach to microstock is unique and refreshing.

OK.  Burst my bubble.  See it I care.   >:(  I'd hoped IS reviewers were getting a bit human.  LOL

The first thing I thought of when I saw the note was that this was an LO review.  I've been with them since last year and love the way their reviewers (bouncers) respond to submissions.  That being said, I do have a major problem with LO.  Zero sales.  Same images (and keywords) that are all selling well on IS, SS, DT and elsewhere have not had a single download on LO.  I don't blame LO for this.  I'm sure they are pushing my images the same as anyone Else's.  I assume it's the market they are addressing.  Each agency has their own target market and marketing strategy.  And I know others are doing well there. If my images were not doing well elsewhere, it would be obvious where the problem lay.  But since they are doing well, several with triple digit downloads, I can only conclude the market they are addressing is looking for images other than my particular style/subject matter.  Not a problem.  Perhaps later on, as I branch out into other types of subject matter, this will change and I will be able to see a trend.  In the meantime, I'll just stick with both what I know works and where it works.

My sales have really picked up at LO in recent weeks.  It's such a great site...I believe that time will prove it to be a success!

I have to agree with the comments about LO, it still amazes me that they give a personalized and insightful message for each review. It is by far my favorite place to upload! Let's just hope one day their sales can match the big guys.
