JJRD has announced istock Collections - for fine art that wouldn't get accepted as regular stock. http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=80936

Where does that quote at the begin of thread comes from? It's not in the other thread about the changes.

There are two threads. JJRD posted in the xnet blog (available on the upload page) and it was copied to the discussion forum by evilclown. The other thread was created by Kelly Thompson about the new structure.

I'm interested in the apparent lack of response to JJRDs statement that images with bad light, visible flash, etc can now be acceptable, that istock is accepting 'Fine Art'. My guess is that  no one thinks it will sell anyway so who cares.

How this will be applied? There's not enough infos I think... Do this mean that I can start shooting in rave's at 800iso and just remove the noise?

It's bound to be very subjective. I think JJRD is an artist at heart, and has found a way at last to introduce some more artistic, but less commercially useful, imagery into the collection. I can't imagine how the inspection team could possibly be consistent in this area.

Exactly. But still I wonder if they will be a second upload area for "artistic images"... I would love to stop worrying about the lights in every images and just thinking about composition and focus. Maybe there will be more info's shortly, but actually the IS thread isn't helpful at all :-\

But we can't... we're like that. ;)

I think this kind of image (Fine Art) will be going to the exclusive collection, meaning that only images from istock exclusives will be considered. As the admins will be selecting images for that collection anyway, maybe this won't be so difficult to implement after all.

IS has to walk a fine line. They have been blasted multiple times this year because contributors found out about partnership programs through third party sources. So now they are trying to give us more info up front but still don't have enough info to really give us answers to the questions that will be asked based on the announcement.

At least they didn't just post that it was a "really cool F5" that would be announced "later".

I'll take a wait and see approach to this one. I had some really good work rejected for "not stock". If all goes well than those images may now have a chance.

The Fine Art is destined for the Premier Collection - for Exclusive content. In this case I'm sure that means Exclusive Contributor.

Yes, that is what the announcement states. The only exclusive content that istock considers exclusive is that belonging to exclusive contributors.
