Title: Footage Exclusivity?

Since I can't post at iStock, I'll ask here.

I don't want to go (back to) photo exclusive at iStock.

I assume iStock has a footage exclusivity program?

Can I just go exclusive with footage and not pictures?

I had my ability to post removed after disagreeing with iStock about a few things on the forum...

I think it was about the new copyright / trademark rules.

I pointed out that they were only protecting themselves from people with mega bucks (such as ford) and that they were disrespecting the designers of small companies by not cracking down on everything.

I felt that they should have had a slightly more "all or nothing" approach, since it's so easy to run through the library and in pretty much every picture pick out something copyrighted or designed by someone (except isolated flowers, clearly...).

Yes, video and everything else (flash/vector/photography) are two separate programs with two entirely different royalty structures.

Can anyone point me to where the video exclusivity deal is written about?  I must be being blind today, or a pleb, but I can't figure it out.

Never mind, I mustn't be able to see it because I haven't been accepted for footage yet.  I'm ammending my business plan, and wanted to justify the purchase of a HD Cam with some figures.

The percentages are the same (20-40%) but the breakpoint for each video screen color change is different (roughly half when you get past bronze). You can see those by looking at the icon page here:

It's not an ideal situation, but you can do some math to figure out the royalty structure. ;)

I decided to be exclusive videographer at Istock 2 weeks ago and I'm still non-exclusive photographer. I'm quite new at footage (started 3 months ago) but after sold 22x (twenty two) times more files at Istock vs Shutterstock I said to myself that it can be an interesting decision.

and SS just starting to sell footage available via subscription I imagine it will boost footage sales there and also StockXpert just started selling footage  too.
