I have a large batch of policitical photos I would like to FTP to istock, but they will only qualify as editorial.  Is there a way to do this?  I am finally accepted and have a few hundred photos of presidential candidates to upload.  I had uploaded many through lightburner and couldn't find a way to mark them editorial only.  The delete function on the site doesn't seem to work in this browser (will try another one later.)  So, I have received my first batch of rejections and am "looking forward" to several more large batches.   Is acceptance ratios important at istock?

I see how to upload these one on one.  For microstock prices, that is not a good use of my time.  Is there a way to upload a batch to mark for editorial only?  Or to edit the ones I have already uploaded to "editorial only?"

Also, the rejection email mentioned releases for "inside locales."  Do I need a property release to sell these on istock?  I had press creds for most of them but no release from the venue.

I feel like an "oldie" asking "newbie" questions-but I find it hard to locate any answers to any questions I have on the istock site.  Any help from the community here is greatly appreciated.

Nobody else seems to have replied so I'll give it a go...

There is no ftp upload for images to iStock, but you can use DeepMeta - indeed, that really is the best way in any case.  That way you can copy and paste between similars and it will check at least the format for editorial uploads, which is critical on iS.

No, you can't change already uploaded ones to Editorial only; they will have to be re-uploaded.  If you have a lot, use DeepMeta again - you can use its copy/paste facility to copy at least the keywords and stuff from the old ones to the new ones before adding the editorial caption.

I'm not sure how accepting they are of political candidate pictures - try one or two to start with and test the water.  They are very touchy about locales, yes;  I don't know if press credentials would be accepted.  Best try support for that, or the Getty forum.

Best of luck....

I think it is time to give up on istock for editorial.  They want a press pass with the photographer's name on it.  These rallies give generic press passes-even to the big guns.  On top of that they want a signed property damage release even if the only thing visible regarding the locale  is part of the American flag.   It's just not worth the effort to try to get through the process.   I will see if I can't shoot some nice commercial RF for them instead :-)

Can't say I'm surprised - as I say, they are very touchy about locales!

They would probably accept such pictures taken in the open at public locations, if you have any, and that might be worthwhile.  Otherwise, another agency might be more accepting, or if you're Exclusive with iStock, you can still offer them elsewhere as RM.

I plan on staying indie for a while.  These images are doing pretty well on DT and SS, so I am content to not bother with the IS process :-)
