The current IS Fuel newsletter about collaboration states:

I don't get how collaboration is being billed as something new and sought-after. It has been a key part of stock imagery for a long time, longer than microstock has been around.

I guess maybe the idea is to encourage us to explore new ways of depicting collaboration? But again, nothing new. We've always evolved stylistically with what is current, trendy, etc.

Last week I had to google 'twerking' when I heard the word on a TV prog.
