FWIW, Alexa tells a somewhat different story:

IS lowest points are consistent with my worst sales period.

It wasn't for me in 2012, but historically that's the Summer Slump, so no surprise there.
The first graph bears no resemblance to my graph for the past 12 months, but my last year's graph was pretty unusual. Neither is it as consistent as Alexa's.
The truth is out there somewhere!

I would imagine that for the largest percentage of contributors, the first graph is the truth, and for a small number of contributors, the second bears resemblance to their truth. That's the way it always is. So proportionately, the number of contributors on this site will say that the first graph is correct and for the small, hopeful koolaid drinkers, the second graph will be correct and because they just want to make certain istock doesn't completely fold, they will try to balance the negativity. That's the way it always is.

I'm absolutely not a kool-aid drinker or pusher (just ask Lobo!)(and note how much better my top chart would have been if they'd 'grandfathered me in', as promised, from April), and I'm a very average in iStock rank, but this is my 2011 chart:

Growing from there this year in ordinary sales and $$s, my big loss is no ELs so far this year.

thats traffic, views etc not sales or contributor payouts :D

from an old topic IS paid to contributors in 2011 what SS paid in their all history, IS is still very far from being a loser..

You all missing point: IS is down because of thinkstock etc.

But my opinion is IS will probably pay less in 2012 to contributors and SS will pay more than 2011. As you can see on Alexa chart SS is going up. I think that IS will suffer for their actions on contributors which they have done from 2010-2011. (lot of contributors are also buyers or involved in buying process with their clients) In this business what you done today you will see results in a year or two.

In this year we will see results from last year on IS. It is possible that their sales on IS (not on Thinkstock) will go down and that means less downloads on our images and videos witch lead to lower contributor redeemed points and lower earnings for 2013. And if the trend continues trough 2012 than IS politics with redeemed points will led them really to the game over faze. But they are way to far from that.

But that is just my opinion.

substitute any word you like, the end result is still the same...majority of contributors can verify down sales/views/payouts/traffic and minority will verify the opposite, and be certain to report it here.  :D

Apparently we all talk from our own experience.

For OP, the game is over. For Sue, the game is still fun. Let's just try to accept that the results are not the same for everyone.

I follow these threads with curiosity.  Are we trying to make ourselves feel good or our competition feel bad?

or both?   ::)

Does it make anything better?   ???

I feel the same. Each person believes what he/she/it wants to believe because of each's personal experience. For those who stopped uploading, the sales are no doubt vanishing in IS. I am also convinced it is more satisfying for indies at SS. For me, my IS income is still growing each year so the game is still ON. If my income is dropping, then I will join the chorus for doom's day.  ;)

1. I am a very small earner but my sales are still growing, from 150 to 200$ lately (yes I am a nobody but thats my stats)
2. the payouts its not my opinion, it was an old topic from BT, that was the conclusion, you can have your opinion too

Well, iS was PREDICTING an increase back in 2010. A year later, the bloke in charge had been demoted and now he's been kicked out of the organisation so it is very, very possible that reality did not match his predictions.

But taking that stated payout back in 2010, it's obviously much larger than SS's. At $1.7m a week, iStock's payout in a single year would be around the same sum as SS has paid out since it began.

Wow! I'm famous for my analysis (that must be why the State Department sent some of it to GW Bush once, but that's a different story). Anyway there's a big difference between one site trending up and another trending down (or maybe not) and the game being over. And in considering what's known about payout totals, you also have to factor in how widely they are spread. Maybe SS has a self-reinforcing search that favours old-timers so we think that it is worth 50% more than iS as regards payouts, when newbies have a different experience. Who knows?

I don't follow these sorts of threads in an effort to justify my choices, I look at them to see if there is anything I might be able to learn about how to boost my earnings.

The whole "web traffic" argument seems to be thrown into doubt by the results for Thinkstock, which comes nowhere in the traffic charts but accounts for 40% of my Istock income. If TS is on a par with DT, why don't the charts show that?
