Title: Global reach?
Post by: PZF on September 07, 2015, 07:21
I was just having a meander around the internet and came across this for one of my photos under gettyimages.com.au:

Sorry, we are not able to license media #................ due to country, company and/or publication restrictions.

So are our images only shown.....locally? Or what? I was just a bit surprised (it was more than one image) but am also confused.

All images on iStock are available to Getty360 customers.  Anyone not in that scheme gets that dodgy-looking and inaccurate message, with no link to iS where they could buy it.
Unbelievable,  but that's the crazy 'reality' of Getty.

Wow......! :(
But thanks for the explanation!

Here's another weirdness:
A subset of pics from Getty (exclusive only?) are available as prints from Photos.com.
On all my few pics there, there's a link to 'buy art prints at Photos.com'. OK it doesn't actually say, "buy this photo as an art print ..." but it is rather implied by the placing. But when you click on the link, you just get taken to the photos.com homepage.
What a chain-yank.
How many busy stock buyers suddenly decide in mid sale to go random print buying?
If a potential buyer happens to have found an image via Google and would really like a print of it, but lands on the Getty Stock Page, how is it helping them if they find they can't buy a print of the image they liked?

You couldn't make this stuff up.
