Just looking at some messages and some portfolios and wondering what kind of numbers the people who read here have up on IS.
Doesn't matter, exclusive or not, photos or vectors or artwork.
As an aside, I removed everything except four images and started over Jan. 2009.
ps set so you can't see the numbers until you vote. I'm mean!

1k is kind of low for an upper limit. You might want to add 5k and maybe even 10k as options :)

No don't do that... its kinda nice being at the upper limit for a change! ;)

Sounds like a good thing to do, especially cleaning out all of those non sellers and start uploading with a new perspective

We know who you are! :D
The limits were set based on IS numbers of people who have those numbers of files, not something I pulled out of the air.
And a CORRECTION, it ends MARCH 1st not Feb 1st. It's like learning to read the big hand and the little hand on a clock, I have to turn the page when I'm counting days and put down the right month!
-
238, but then I have not uploaded in ages.
-
My port is growing fairly quickly. I had about 300 images six months ago but now it's nearly 700. I won't be over 1000 by March 1st though.

Not sure what that means...

Me neither. In fact I don't actually understand the point of this 'poll' at all. What's it for? We've already got the ranking system to provide better info already.

Don't know if this is relevant but I checked out my position in istockcharts recently, having just crossed another 100 threshold. I'm about 9000 (out of about 30000 listed). On the page I'm on 36/50 started before me (Feb '07), had fewer than 100 files online, and had no uploads in the past 30 days. I'd say there are a very large number of inactive contributors on istock, with small portfolios, who are slowly accumulating downloads.
-
It would be interesting to see how big is your portfolio on IS compared to other sites. Mine is probably at 1/3 :D
-
My number of uploads at the big 4:
IS - 981
DT - 1,193
FT - 1,162
SS - 1,126

Well, despite my ever-decreasing downloads, my fuzzy position on istockcharts is just about the same as it's been since the site started. Although it's been explained to me, I still don't really understand why that doesn't mean that the average download rate per contributer isn't decreasing at a broadly similar rate (some overtaking me, me overtaking others - interestingly, I only recognise four names on the same page I'm on). I'd expect to be about a thousand positions lower than I was at this time last year.

512 counting about ten awaiting approval.

Sounds logical to me Sue. I would draw the same conclusions.

I'm gradually moving up, but since I'm so far down, all I'm passing is people who quit uploading. :)
I try to add 15 every other week, and wait. Now and then I get a few more in the middle week, but that's under 30 a month for the last four months. Not a big deal. Not all are accepted.
Two weeks into the survey, 123 responses which is pretty darn impressive.
-
13 files online :) 1 in queue, queued since November. All in just 5 months! (Yes, this is just for fun...)
Can I get the lowest-upload-per-month-at-microstockgroup prize now ? :)
following averil, I checked my position on istockcharts, achieving 12970!
I should really read this forum less and try to upload my 14th...
adijr
p.s.: waiting to get to go exclusive, then I'll really unroll... maybe even get to 20 pictures eventually!

Just checked. I fell down 80 positions again since last week. Not that I'm not uploading or getting many rejects. I just don't sell shots more recent than 2 years.

What's the point? How does the population of MSG members compare to the IS site for number of images online?
As I suspected the MSG people are far above the general contributors on IS. If you want the numbers I can post them, but the percentages show it pretty well in the bar chart.
Only 4% of the IS contributors have over 1000 images online, while 24.3% of the MSG people have 1000 or more. 20% higher here!
67% of the IS contributors have under 100 images online, while only 18% of the people here have under 100. I also suspect that if the poll is run in a year the number here will be going down (as they will have more images) and the numbers for IS will be going up. :D
In a larger grouping 15% of the IS artists have over 300 images. That's right only 15%! While 54% of the people here have over 300 images on IS. That's why I picked the break points I did, it's roughly 5% each for the top three on IS.
Part of this is to display that what we read here is the cream of the crop, not the average Microstock artist.
(this should read IMAGES not photos, sorry)
