I don't understand why is getty and iStock making is too complicated.
Why don't they keep it simple?

You have deepmeta and qHero to upload? Why? Why cannot be there an easy method to upload like all other agencies doing like shutterstock, fotolia etc. Why can't there be simple FTP or browser upload.
The keyword selection, choosing categories, I find it more time consuming than all other channels. The interface, why making it too complicated to understand.

ESP, why can't they keep it easy to understand, why adding complications.
keep it simple.. JUST KEEP IT SIMPLE

It is simple. They just dump a spreadsheet without having to pay decent developers. Or do you mean simple for us? That's because they don't give a ****.

qHero and DeepMeta are actually independently developed to make the upload process easier, they are not developed by IS.
While using DeepMeta, the only thing that really slows me down is the useless IS curated dictionary or whatever they call it. I can't login in DeepMeta3 so I can't comment if it's any easier than it used to be, but by jusdging by the current ESP upload IS is still using that.

The old Deepmeta was awesome and a joy to use, but 3.x had to comply with this new ESP thing and has made everything ten times more complicated than it needs to be.

I've stopped uploading so I don't really care anymore.

This is what they are doing now. Such big companies, I think should look on increasing sales, doing marketing and making contributor happy... not in just spending huge amount of money in developing same tools and presenting it in a new plate.

I have also put everything on hold unless a clearer picture is available.
I have already sent email to them and not expecting the reply soon as this is what I got in auto-reply.

On perhaps a positive note, they used to be really strict on the technical side and these days pretty much accept anything.

They need to do something to justify the 85% or more of each sale they keep.

They haven't developed any new tools as far as I can tell they've just dumped a text file on us and done a few very basic excel charts.

It's been several years since they've been accepting anything.  And that's never been positive at all.

I have never been with them.
But there is something I don't understand: everyone says they are evil and nobody should work with them.
But then 8 threads out of 10 here (and the more popular ones) regard istock, suggesting that almost everyone uploads there

But they won't.  They just think they are entitled to do whatever they want.   And they know there will always be stupid or desperate people willing to work for even less.

when you say "everyone" it doesn't mean all contributors. You should say many as this forum itself have 37552 members as of now with 100s of active users which only see the posts and don't reply to it.

Many of us used to make a lot there. I personally stopped uploading with the RC announcement and then deleted almost all my files with another one (there have been so many I can't even remember what it was) but I keep a few live so I can keep my toe in the water to see if they ever pulled their heads out of their @#$# and were worth dealing with again. So far no.

ditto that was my first thought when I saw that the txt was all kinds of information we didn't need. Make columns selectible or some short form available. If we want all the redundant data, we can check boxes to see it.

I want to see, what sold, when, what license, and how much I made. I know that everything is 15% now.

Is there anything that shows total sales or totals for files like everyplace else. Oh nevermind, all old data has now been purged we start over as mushrooms.

No new uploads from me.

I've been with Getty for several years. Don't try to understand them. As soon as you do they will change the system.

When I first started there were no keywords only 'emotional phrases'  :P
It's been changing like that ever since.

I'm completely lost! I can log into the new DeepMeta but I can only see my images in the old Deepmeta. The browser plug-in script that used to show my account balance no longer shows it, and it doesn't show any sales since mid-December. I haven't got a clue what to do with ESP. The only bit of good news in all this chaos is that because I didn't know how my sales were going, I just got a payout that I wasn't expecting :)

The reality is, despite all evil people say against istock, it is worth it. On average I make 0.28c per image subscription on istock, contrasting with the 0.25 on SS.  On some months they represent my best earner. I don't know what will happen now with the new royalties. I've stopped uploading for a while and will just observe.

I checked out the new site and can't figure out where my images are. Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to start yet another thread.

EDIT: So I saw Shady Sue's advice in another thread to find one of my images and then click on the link to my name. Is this really the only way to see your own portfolio? Mind-boggling.

Check it out you are stuck with 28 cents forever with iStock/Thinkstock partner program sales.  You are also stuck on 15% royalties forever with iStock unless you become exclusive.

And what do you make of the 2.7 cent 3.3 cent royalties iStock are paying you?

Shutterstock will increase your royalties once you make $500 in sales to 33 cents then 36 cents once you get $3000 and 38 cents once you reach $10,000

Your On demand and Single on Demand rates will also go up too.

Same for Fotolia/Adobe and Even DT increase rates as you sell more.

Didn't you read the rate cards when you signed up?
