Looking for a bit of info & advice here.

Over the last few weeks I have had images seemingly randomly rejected for 'up-sampled from original size' at IS. The rejected images are processed the same way as all my images; through CS3 Raw editor and then basic adjustments in PS CS3. The rejected images are usually one out of a batch of accepted images. I have alot of respect for the reviewers at IS, so there must be something I am doing wrong.

Can anyone shed some light on what exactly is meant by up-sizing and rezzing, and what you think I may be doing wrong causing these rejections.

Thanks in advance.

Stu

As I was writing th above I just received another rejection with this reason:

"Your file appears to have been up-sampled from its original size. Native
resolution of Rebel XT is 3456 x 2304 pixel. As part of the standards of iStock, we only accept files at their native resolution."

What is that about?

You are submitting images larger than your camera is capable of producing, and they are assuming that you are using Photoshop's Image > Image Size... facility to add pixels.

I see....so what do you think is causing this problem?

Looking at the pixels of the rejected images they are all 4096x2731, which is strange. Do you think that something in the raw to jpeg conversion process in CS3 is causing this?

I cannot comment because I don't use CS3 to convert my raw images. But you are definitely doing something to upsize your images.

Thanks for your replies and help Sharpley.

You are right, I had somehow changed the workflow format in Raw editor to default to the higher pixel count at 11mp rather than the native 8mp. Easily fixed now.

The only thing is I had converted a couple of dozen images in the higher format which will have to be scraped now and re-converted.  :-\

Thanks again - problem solved.

No need to scrap them...just downsize them to their native size.
