Title: Is hero upload software still working for you?
Post by: sarah2 on October 09, 2016, 09:15
I can't get it to work now and have contacted the main guy - I know he's generally pretty good at getting back - but wonder if it is just me.....and whether I need to make alternative arrangements....
I've been off these sites for a while and maybe something has happened....

The iS api is constantly changing ATM as they move towards 'unification' and the third-party apps writers are more or less waiting until things settle down.
If you haven't uploaded for a while, be aware that they introduced some 'feature' called 'pending', for no known reason. It seems to be pretty buggy and some people have had files stuck 'pending' for weeks on end. There used to be a fix, but somehow they broke that also.  ::)
iSNAFU.

I haven't uploaded for months, and always uploaded directly within iS, but I believe Frankie is also waiting for the api to be sorted out. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. He does what he can.
You can end up in pending no matter how you upload - or not, it's random, apparently.

Also be aware that keyword mapping is randomly all over the place. Again, no consistency, but for example (this isn't the actual example, but it's a direct equivalent of the type I've had), say you keyword 'pear', it maps pear to 'fruit' and from 'fruit' also keywords 'apple', which you didn't choose and now we can't change keywords after a file has been accepted
They don't seem to care about these 'in-system' problems.
