Title: IS is increasing thumbnail sizes and more
Post by: GeoPappas on June 09, 2006, 08:49
Here is an excerpt:

"Today's word is bigger: Bigger thumbnails, bigger Loupe, bigger zoom, bigger comps. Everybody is going to see more of every image. And we're re-processing all the thumbnails — yes, all of them. We're lightening the file sizes, and converting our thumbnails to sRGB, for consistent color across browsers and platforms."

BTW, I think that this is great news.

One of the things that I think detracts from higher sales at all sites is the fact that the thumbnails are small and most of them don't have any sort of zoom whatsoever.  Allowing a potential buyer the opportunity to really see what a photo looks like will propel sales.

I think it's an important touch to allow images to be zoomed.  The only problem in IS however is that you don't know when you reached 100% size, you can keep zooming in.
