Not only is it inclusive, it's a PR-friendly people shot rather than a boring old bunch of flowers or a picture of a crummy boat with peeling paint or someone's dog or... you get the idea. 95% of images that go through the queue are dross. What a happy coincidence that the exact 4tth millionth file wasn't.

I don't know why they pretend - do they think everyone outside Calgary is an idiot?

Conspiracy!
It's not conspiracy is simply bullshiting like with all milestones over there. I can accept it as marketing but if you believe that there have been not a lot tweaking to the milestones you must be an idiot!

Lucky it wasn't one of the images currently on the New/Exclusive uploads pages.

That explains why some of us have been waiting 10 days for reviews, they were waiting for a decent photo for the 4 millionth.  This time I don't blame them.  It wouldn't look good if they had picked a dreadful image.  We would all be asking why they didn't fix it.

Good point. Luckily they didn't wait for an image of an american flag (like SS did :D).

Oh yeah, massively suitable as stock. I'm sure it will be the best match in the millions of searches on "miniature tambourine" and "Afro-centric man rests chin on microphone stand".

Oh, I'm sure they pick and choose for things like this, but I thought it was a pretty average photo, subject and composition wise overall.  I have no problem with it.

With the recent election of Barack Obama, the market geared for black consumers is probably good, even if this one here is not just "black people" but totally African (although in some areas of Brazil you may find people dressing like this, but it's more African-pride than a local tradition thing).

I also believe all those milestone in any site are picked manually, but it's ok. As long as it is a good image, I don't bother.  This is the type of situation in which I think that giving a priviledge to an exclusive is valid - unlike in search results sorting.

Adelaide

 Hi Madelaide,

Ethnic diversity has been a hole in all stock especially salable ethnic diversity ( commercial stock style ) as apposed to editorial style ethnic diversity ( real people in real locations ). The Obama election should help a bit for the African American but one place I am seeing good sales off my Micro ethnic work has been Asian models. They have been selling well. I imagine it has a lot to do with the growth in that part of the world at the moment but also their need to keep prices very low. Ideal market for Micro.
I would also consider about what you think the new office in the U.S. are going to focus on. National health, Green Energy, Equality, Saving, Recycle. There are a bunch of them but these subjects should also sell well over the coming years.

Best,
AVAVA
