Title: iStock - disappeared keywords
Post by: Beppe Grillo on February 01, 2014, 03:34
Today I have had a big surprise.
I was verifying my keywords in iStock, with DeepMeta (last version), and I have found that a lot of the most important keywords for the description of the images have simply disappeared.
For example I have photos of different leaves. In my Lightroom keywords I have the keywords with the name of the tree (oak, ash, maple, etc.), I have photos of fruits and the keyword “fruit” is missing in iStock, I have photos of woman and the keyword “woman” is missing in iStock, and so on…

On every other site these keywords are in the right place, but on iStock they are missing.
Hundred of very relevant keywords have disappeared in iStock!!
Of course all the uploads were done from the same original images with all the Lightroom keywords.

Do you manually do disambiguation? If not I would think leaving it up to iStock may prove less accurate

I noticed the same thing a few months ago on some of my files. It isn't easy to find; too many files, too many keywords.  But I do recall the main keywords of several of my files had simply vanished, for no reason at all. I added them back in, but of course their best match placement was horrendous after that (when searching by the previously missing keywords).

Yes always.
What I find really strange is that the disappeared keywords are alway the most important ones…

Now I have more than 1000 files to review and to correct… >:(

Indeed, that's exactly what I found, too.

Quite the "coincidence", eh?  ::)

No-one is in CR on weekends, AFAIK.
It might be best to raise it on the keywords thread as well, as that may be a faster way to get something done.

Yes, you are right but I don't want to have nothing to do with the iStock forum.
And this will not solve my problem as I shall have to reenter my keywords anyway…

Well, today is a "great" day, at last: I have finished to review all my iStock keywords.
Thousands of main and important keywords were disappeared, all keywords were in an order different than the one I had initially chosen…

I recommend to everyone to check the keywords.
With DeepMeta it is quite simple, very long but easy
