Now asking a buyer to enter the dollar bin to grab a bargain 1,2,3 or 4 credits for x small ,small,medium or large file might appear a very sensible sales pitch from istockphoto.
They have increased the size of the 'BIN' this week and are also asking contributors to come up with a new name.
Never fully understood why contributors keep files in their respective portfolio's that have not recieved a sale after 3-4 years.
I just spent 30 minutes browsing the dollor bin and if you do the same you will see why 100's if not 1000's have not been bought....Weak composition and poor subject matter are the main things that jump out at you.
I am sure those contributors looking back at their work 3-4 years ago will cringe!

I just had a quick look at the dollar bin, looking at a few images and many have lots of downloads, so maybe all is not what it seems, when I viewed some images there were the links to the photographers lightboxes, so a good way to get buyers to your portfolio, where they might want to purchase a similar.

So the dollar bin looks more of a clever marketing tool than a dumping ground.

I received a notification about images sent to the dollar bin. The notification was about 3 images, yet there are 10 in my dollar bin list, these 3 being the oldest.

I sold one of the ten yesterday in another site, and it has sold other times as another of the same series that is also in the DB (a third one isn't because it had sales), so it seems odd to see them there. One had been rejected in some sites, and never sold anywhere, so it seems fair. Another was accepted in many places but also never sold, so again seems fair.

Yet, this week I sold a 3-year-old image for the first time in IS. It has had regular sales elsewhere, not bad given it's a seasonal image (Easter), so...

How do you see what images have sold in the dollar bin? I have gotten notifications that some have been moved over the past couple of weeks but don't see them in my daily sales. Where should I look?

Go to your uploads page. Look for the Currently Viewing selection. Change Active/pending files to Active dollar files. Click on Refresh Data. Et voila!
