I wonder how would "Microstock Poll Results" look like if iStock would be divided to independents and exclusives. 7.2 vs 4?
I'm not iStock contributor but from time to time I have a strange feeling that I should. Actually it's money what makes me happy. But speaking money only - is it worth it? From discussions here it seems that iStock became low earner for independents.
Please don't shoot me if you think that this poll is useless.

Not sure what this poll sets out to discover? Some people earn more or less than other people? That aside your top bracket of $1000 is extremely low, especially for exclusives __ some of them spend more than that on their shoots each month.

From last year's results the average income for exclusives was 31,000 so capping it at 1000+ doesn't say much. The average is 2 or 3 times higher than your highest level.
Edit: looks like gostwyck beat me to it.

I understand that exclusives make much more but I wanted to use same figures that are used in monthly MSG Poll and to found out where in the MSG Poll Results would "iS independents only" or "exclusives only" appear. Well - as for exclusives only - I believe that iS would be still no. 1 in results.

Do we include Thinkstock with Istock?

Yes. Thank you.

I'm relatively new at shooting stock and my portfolio is small and still growing so my monthly earnings were low. I fluctuate between two categories but opted for the one that has been most consistent over the last few months. As far as answering the question "is it worth it" I would say yes. My RPI for IS and SS were almost identical, with SS just a little ahead by a couple of pennies. SS was my highest earning site, followed by IS, DT and 123.

The poll asked
Your monthly iStock (incl. TS) earnings in December (Voting closes: February 03, 2012, 17:39)
Did I read it wrong, or were you looking for the average? My December was my worst month in 5 years.

Yes. Thank you.
We don't have the December ThinkStock/Photos.com earnings yet.

Ooops! I read the title but didn't notice the question was just regarding December earnings. Either way, my vote would have ended up the same.
-
My worst December in 5 years, too. 11% of my income nowadays, instead of 30% like it used to be. Never in a million years would I consider going exclusive with IS. I'd have to get another job.
Since I'm impatient with IS's delayed TS earning reports, I add my lowest TS monthly total to my calculations and replace it when they are reported.

I clicked on the wrong button - brain fart - but I can't fix it. I think polls can allow a vote change - can you do that?

None of these polls are meaningful without at least making an adjustment for portfolio size, such as earnings per image.

I'm sorry - I can't see this option if I try to edit the poll. :-[

Yes. Thank you.
So then I have to wait until about the 15th or so to answer the poll, because as far as I can see from past history, I never know what I got from ThinkStock until then? How about that. ;) No little green bars yet...

I was going to say the same thing, Thinkstock results only start trickling in at about mid month.
-
I'm sorry. As I am not iStocker I didn't know that you have to wait that long to find out how much you made at TS. I hope that it won't change results significantly. :-[

Yeah sucks don't it? Unbelievable when you think that most sites update stats real time. They really need to think about who they have taking care of their technical side.

I've also had my worst month for 5 years!!

You need a higher tier above 1,000. Lots of exclusives and independents alike are making well over this.

For Months I've been wondering how people could be reporting losses at IS but the arrow on the right hand side of this forum is green and appears to be going up.
Assuming that the 21 (25% of the people in this poll) reporting income over 1k are actually quite a bit above that (say $2000+). Theoretically they could take a $900 dollar decline in sales (almost 45% decline) and still report the same poll number. Unfortunately, if you are one of the high earners your monthly results (good or bad) do very little to reflect what is actually happening to sales and skew the true results. For you- a loss of $500 a month would have no effect on the poll whatsoever. I believe that for most sites the poll results are pretty accurate but based on the above info for IS (and possibly SS) they are completely skewed by the high earners.

My December was at 2006 levels which is quite pathetic. Needless to say I am no happy crown holder.
-
I think what would give us more information if there was a stats page where every month we entered average return per download and average return per image for the given month.
-
I was going to say the same thing, Thinkstock results only start trickling in at about mid month.
56 people voted so far, maybe I'm missing something?
Can someone who voted as an Independent please tell me how you know what your Partner sales are. I'd love to see mine before the 15th-17th of the month? Or did people just average Nov. or something?
I have no clue what my Dec. sales are from Partner Sales. How do you folks see them?
-
Without PP.

My PP sales are roughly the same every month, so I just insert the lowest number as a placeholder until the real numbers start coming in.
