Title: Istock Exclusive RPD
Post by: descent on November 08, 2012, 07:46
I have a question for exclusive (photo) authors on istock.
What is your RPD?

This year, my monthly RPD has varied from $3.72 in February (a relatively good number of downloads, no ELs) to $5.47 (relatively few dls, but 2 decent ELs)
February's total $$ was a lot more than September's.
I'm small fry, only on 30%.

the propblem is all those pictures that istock does not manage to sell.
oops. I should not comment, im not an exclusive.
But when an agency does not manage to sell your otherwise excellent pictures, they should be taken with a grain of salt and maybe be relieved from their duties.

You would also need to know the percentage rate of the responder. Someone on 45% will have a lot more than someone on 25%; the stat is pretty meaningless without it.

Mine comes in at $7.35 over the last 6 months (May-Oct), not including PP or GI (that is, iStock only).

It might have been a bit higher but for the last two months maybe!

I've been on 30% royalty throughout that period.

You need to know the royalty rate of the contributor as Liz pointed out, but also illustrator/photographer/videographer, or rough proportions of those media - pricing is very different, and what percentage of agency/Vetta the contributor has. Unlike E+ Agency/Vetta isn't the contributor's choice and can massively impact RPD.

I don't think you can get a poll for that complex a set of information with what the forum offers. Perhaps it'd be easier if you provided information about your portfolio so you could find an exclusive with a similar one - who cares what Sean's RPD is as you probably won't get that anyway?

Hi Baran,

previously I said to you that mine is about 6-7$, now it's about 5.5$ due to a drop of E+ sell and a lot of new files being not E+ and selling well.
I'm on a 25% level, and the RPD is without El's or PP.

My RPD has gone up by about 30% from this time last year, but my monthly income is down 30% in $.
