Up to 20/168 ...

Now, if only FTP were available.

yay, er...  but I don't think I've ever uploaded that quickly, so dosn't really effect me.  :)

I assume this means they've finally got on top of the queue there?  Althoguth the home page still says 13000 odd in the queue..

Anyway, you folks have a good new years...

I'm a bit confused

I uploaded 25 photos to iStock on Saturday (I have over 500 DLs at iStock) but the newbie limit is 20 ?

If you have over 500 DLs then you are not a newbie, you are a bronze level contributor.

Man, am I confused...   LOL   (not the first time).
So what's a new guy to do?  There's so much conflicting info here on istock.  I've been holding off on istock since I started in the biz.  It's good/it's bad, it's wonderful/it sux....    If  I am experienceing good acceptance and sales on SS and StockXpert and the like,  should I bother with the apparant hassle of uploading to istock? Could I expect a similar acceptance rate, in general? Or is it still one major pain in the... sitting down place?   What are the chances of even getting on istock now? Is it worse than the wait "54 months, 54 times" at SS? (j/k)  I've seen some are even pulling out of istock. .......
So far in my 'carreer',  the advice I've gotten here has been good for me.              peace - tom

I await all of your  learned  opinions.

Yes. No. Maybe  ;D

Everything about working with the site, sucks.

You can make good money there.

Have to decide for yourself.

my opinion

They are a royal pain to upload to, but their earnings are decent.  So if you feel like putting in the time, they can be a good earner.  The fact that people are willing to go exclusive with istock should be some sort of sign that they can be allright.

They are one of the last ones that i upload too because of the time involved in uploading, but for the images that i have there, I am glad.

The new limits lasted for about a week - they are down to 15/168 for newbies  :(

Seems it will take an age for an absolute beginner like myself to make any money there. I did get 3 DLs in a week though  ....

maybe it is automatically adjusted depending on how many images are in the cue.

Probably manually adjusted...

The limits went down again for all non-exclusives a couple of days ago. I started a thread, complaining about it, but as usual, hordes of exclusives joined in and told me how good the new limits are for us all. It's like going to a church were they speak a language that you don't understand. You can hear the shout "hallelujah", but you don't have a clue as to why they are doing it.

On a more positive note, a couple of positive ideas came up with alternatives to the current limits. I doubt that anything will happen, but one can always hope   ::)

Like base upload quotas on acceptance ratios in addition to other criteria. That was the suggestion that got the most positive response.

The upload limits are fine for me. I would like if it's possible to do it based on acceptance rate, but I prefer to have upload limits then have to wait for weeks until my images are reviewed.
It's kind of the best we can get.

The good thing could be if Istock expand the inspection team. This could be the only way to send the limits away.
Not long time ago the qeue at SS was a lot longer, I don't know what have they done but ussually now I have images reviewed in the same day. And they don't need to limit uploads.

The problem I have with their upload limits, and also the main reason for starting the thread there, is that I travel a lot. That means that my real upload limit is much lower than the current 20 per week, since I can't take advantage of my quota every week.

So I suggested that they change it to a monthly or even bi-weekly quota. But I've suggested it before, and I don't think they are listening on that ear.

I even think that the current quota, at least to a certain degree, lower the quality of the submissions. Some photographers will send in whatever, just to fill their slots so that they aren't lost.
