There haven't been glory days on iStock since 2011.

For me with PP and subs they are still #2 after SS, although much closer to the others than before.  iS by itself is now unfortunately only middle tier, but with PP and subs still top tier.  I'm sure with their next brilliant change they will probably change that though and then your thread title will be accurate.

yet it appears exclusive still outnumbers all the others combined in the poll, and always has. what is your point?

"Top tier" is an arbitrary designation.  Does anyone really think a site that for the average person here makes $80/month should be considered top tier?  Almost all the sites should be bottom tier according to the poll results.

Use a calculator and come back with the correct numbers.

I would suggest you do the same. I have not included IS. I don't see the point in wasting my life uploading to 12 sites to make more or less what one site already gives me. Life is too short.

Looks like a lot of people stopped filling out the poll, last year this time 20 sites showed up in the results now only 12 do.

As an exclusive you can upload to Pond5 and Alamy, since most (probably nearly all) earnings from Pond5 are for video and you can upload RM to Alamy.

not in my case, exclusive with video there as well, and IS gets all my seconds after the first picks go to GI as either RF or RM.

I'm still nonexclusive for video but I'm close to going back exclusive either with istock and getty or pond5.  I'll probably stop at SS soon, it's the lowest earner of the 3 by a wide margin.

I don't need to because I don't need to leave out numbers to make my stated opinions look like facts.

here is a fact, i don't do 12 times the work for similar rewards. you can split hairs all you want, but that is just plain dumb to do that much work for similar results. work smart or work hard, we all make our own choices.

Diversification is a bit more time-consuming, but it reduces risk over the long term. As iStock makes bad decisions and loses customers, those customers just visit one of the other sites and license your work elsewhere.

Seeing how you count, and seeing how much time you have to repeat your pet theme in almost every thread, I can see what your choices are.

You know that a nonexclusive can enter earnings of $30,000 per month for those 12 sites in total and an exclusive can enter in $2,500.  I haven't entered my numbers in the poll for over a year but I just did a few minutes ago, it will be interesting to see how that changes the results.  I suspect there are very few people filling it out these days.

Well, if the poll is so unreliable why would someone smart use it to make their point?

I don't use that data for making decisions nor for making public statements. All I do is pointing out if someone comes up with a statement that supports their biased opinion but is solely factually based on their inability to count.

Like I said before I don't think I would count Pond5 or Alamy as completely nonexclusive, even SS has some percentage of sales that are video.  I get income from those 3 sites but I can't enter it into the poll, if I did my numbers would show up as nonexclusive.   For me entering in just my exclusive photo earnings looking at the poll I would be comparing that to nonexclusive photo earnings, video earnings, and RM earnings along with the fact that nonexclusives can enter 10 or 20 times more earnings per month.

yes diversification is more time consuming, but for where i am at it is not worth the risk to lose my income, or rather substantially decrease it in hopes of gaining it back. after the big exodus from IS i have yet to hear anyone jumping up and down about how their income has paralleled or surpassed where they were at before they jumped ship. when i read on some ego driven personal blogs about how they don't even make payout each month, that is wasted work to me. then there is what certain agencies pay in royalties to license your work, there is one agency that comes to mind that i simply won't allow to sell my work for such a low amount, if it comes to that, i am out of the game completely. also of note just because the vocal minority on this forum are not doing gangbusters over on the dark side, does not mean that others are not doing well. if it ain't broke then don't fix it, and thus far touch wood it is still a lucrative place to be.
