Title: istock phone calls with portfolio critique
Post by: Artemis on September 05, 2010, 17:32
I was a bit baffled to read this on the istock forums:
http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=251222&page=1 (http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=251222&page=1)

istock offered a (non-exclusive) to call and give them personal feedback, tips and tricks on how to improve their portfolio. They even send PSD's with their improvements etc! JJRD confirms in the thread its now part of the official istock program.

Thought i'd share :)
Im (pleasantly) surprised they're willing to put so much energy into this, and double surprised they offer this personal service to non-exclusives.

Possibly they are trying to turn on the charm for selected non-exclusives whom they wish would go exclusive (on the basis of the quality/volume of their shots).  The kind of contributor who does quite well at other sites but who has too many rejections at IS (and who points this out or hints at their frustration in scout/critique requests).  If they (a) charm the contributor and (b) give them a technical boost to get over their rejection issues then it could be a big plus for both parties.

So far one person has gotten the phone call and posted about this. Even sjlocke didn't know about the program, and he pretty much knows everything about the goings-on at IS.

That one phone call generated three pages of wooyays. Sounds like an easy way to prove to your contributors that you care. I will be interested to see if this is really a new feature for all contributors or just a "publicity stunt".

From what I read, it seems that the contributor might have raised some issues with Scout.

Since in my case an international call is required, I would prefer my share of attention in cash. :D
