A mortgage can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the financial situation of the person who takes it out. As for " the debt exists because the lenders believe in the company", that is in the wrong tense, it should be "believed" at the time they made the loan. We don't know whether or not they still believe in it, but Getty's admission that it failed to produce the performance it said it would must have gone some way to undermining the original belief.

Still waiting for them to do for photographers what they did for vector artists and just drop the RC system.

Haven't uploaded since the D-day and will not anytime soon, at least until their DNA changes as it was stated earlier by Cobalt. In fact, i'm half step from pulling my entire portfolio out. I guess I'm just waiting to the final drop...

They must have lost a lot of exclusives to SS this year, it's not like them to play anything other than hardball.

It's kind of reassuring to see the RC system bite them on the arse, other agencies should take note.

I really don't understand the conclusions being drawn from this (which isn't to say that I wouldn't love to see the RC system outlawed on the entire planet).

They did the exact same thing last year, so how do we tell anything from them doing it again this year?

If you have not made it back to your 2012 level you will not move down on Jan 1, instead you will stay at your current level/rate going into 2013.

Won't happen if people keep uploading.

It's true. Vector uploads plummeted (the review queue went from several days down to several hours despite no additional reviewers being added) and lifting the upload limit didn't give them the numbers they wanted from the people who continued to upload. They finally had to relent and give back the 20% rate to get uploads back on track.

Big revenue losses from iStock this year and SS revenue up this year.

Getty won't care of course because they have Thinkstock & Getty Images but the future doesn't look stable or particularly sustainable for exclusives.

New files being dead on arrival are compounding the problem, 2014 will be a pivotal moment for many exclusives IMO.

On a side note the hearts and minuses things is pretty silly when I get 1 negative and your post gets 5 hearts for agreeing with me, glad I stopped paying any attention to that.  I can say for sure now that some people give negatives without reading what I've written so even less of a reason to pay attention to it.  Too bad Leaf doesn't offer an opt out.

I can't speak for everyone, but when I've given you minuses I've read every word.  (I've also given you pluses on the rare occasions you provide useful info)

No, it's probably because Lisa CONTRIBUTES to the discussion. You just seem to write hundreds of nothing posts. Look at your last 4 above. Not one word about the subject of the thread.

Of course. Its a reaction to the all the votes down. Just trying to collect a few more. You are talking about the last 4 comments, I am talking in general. By the way, Lisa;s comment was off topic as well, so its not even true.

Few random comments..

Grandfathered, get to keep my 15%  ;D

@tickstock, despite disagreeing with you on virtually everything, have never given you a minus (the only time I ever do it is to prats who minus me for speaking the truth)

Read a comment from the founder of a company I used to work for about his disappointment that the company he founded and built over 20 years had been "managed out of existence" - sound like a familiar story?

Desperately important things, these pluses and minuses. I don't know how I survived the first 50-something years of life without them.  (Please, no minuses for this post, just lots of pluses, or I'll spend the whole day feeling depressed!).

Anyone else experiencing a drop in commission rate for 2014, despite the message that rates would be grandfathered?
