istock has doubled its referral bonus for September, from $10 to $20 per referral. I have referred 28 people there so far, so hopefully a few newbies will use my link below this month :)

I wonder why they've done that?

You've very likely referred a LOT more than that. They only show you (and pay for) the ones who buy photos. Not so many contributors buy photos. :(

I just got a referral on IS today, September 1, 2008. And what is the amount I was paid? $10.00.
Typical of IS.

May be it was a referral from august, IS does take some time (even a week) to confirm the referral.

More agressive approach to attract buyers for the upcoming busy holiday season? Good timing in my opinion.

Yeah, they are always ripping people off like that. ::)

It seems the referral system is creating a cottage industry. There's one gal who is hotlinking to watermarked images on IS and SS for her website. The images then link back to the copyright holders portfolio but with her referral link.
So you might get a 20 cent sale she's getting the $20 referral bonus.
IS had to do something. Between the price hikes every 6 months and the searches coming up with spammed images before relevant ones, many buyers are looking elsewhere.
